The Audit

Avg Length 92m

Latest episode 9 months ago

In The Audit, comedian Dave Anthony and screenwriter Josh Olson audit a variety of online classes, docuseries, and other media products created by noxious political figures and boil them down to the good stuff. By which they mean... the bad stuff. With the rise of MasterClass, TED talks, and celebrity biographies, the country’s political elite are bombarding us with information so we can be just like them. But who has time to devote to all that self-congratulatory navel-gazing? That’s where The Audit comes in. Dave, Josh and a rotating coterie of guest hosts will consume depraved educational content for the time-pressed listener, then regurgitate a short-form review detailing the sociopathy and insanity baked into the messages. It’s like listening to someone present a book report — except all of the authors are deranged lunatics who are poisoning American culture.

Faith, hops and love. Beer Christianity is a progressive Christian podcast that blends faith, politics and culture with pub chat. Interviews with thinkers, artists and theologians. Honest, authentic discussions of theology and society. Almost no real understanding of beer. Expect all this and a bunch of laughs as we try to deconstruct, reconstruct and unf*ck our Christianity with fear, trembling and a couple of drinks. Pour a pint, put your feet up and listen your way into a different kind of Christian podcast. A fresh alternative to conservative Christian podcasts that fail to question anything and deconstructing podcasts that see nothing in evangelicalism worth saving. Expect strong political views, open religious dialogue and the occasional shambles in the ‘studio’.

Chumbology: A Chumbawamba Anthology Podcast

In 1997, the song "Tubthumping" was everywhere: bars, soccer stadiums, movies, and TV shows. The song, with its chant-along chorus ("I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down!") was rousing, and it was easy to understand why it was such a hit. The oddly named band behind the hit, Chumbawamba, seemed to come from nowhere with this incredibly catchy little tune. But then, as did so many bands from the 90s, they seemed to disappear as quickly as they'd come. But there's a lot more to Chumbawamba than just one song. Across dozens of studio albums, EPs, cassettes, and other releases, the band proved themselves to be one of the most prolific anarcho-punk bands of the 80s through the 2010s. Their discography features a wealth of great songs, across many genres, that confront social and political issues that still affect us today.Join Teddy & Natalie, your resident Chumbologists, as we dig song by song, album by album, through one of the most overlooked bands of all time. It's Chumbology, baby.

God Help the Troubadour: The Eternal Voice of Phil Ochs

5 Episodes

|

Avg Length 87m

Latest episode 3 years ago

Called “one of the greatest poets that ever lived” by Neil Young, singer-songwriter Phil Ochs has been sitting in the footnotes of musical history for the past half century. So, why make a podcast about a musician buried in relative obscurity since his untimely death in 1976? Simple. His songs could have been written a week ago. From his days as a “singing journalist” in the early sixties, to the experimental baroque-pop of “Pleasures of the Harbor”, to the seventies’ gold suit (a la Elvis Presley) rock & roll era, Phil bled into his music. Listen as we explore his music and its continued relevance, and ride the rollercoaster that is Phil’s life story, packed with drama, turmoil, and intrigue, about the troubadour who tried to be a star.
