Water Is For Fighting is a five part documentary podcast series that explores the complexities around water management in the Western United States. For this season, we’re focusing on the South Platte River in Colorado, because it’s a resource that 4.5 million people rely on every day. For most of us, access to clean drinking water is a given, but our relationship with the natural environment is far more intimate-- whether you know it or not. With a growing population, increasingly destructive wildfires, and changing climates, big decisions are being made about the future of this finite resource. In each episode, our team guides you through the remarkable and intricate water delivery system in the Denver Metro area, from the watersheds, to the dams and reservoirs, the water treatment plants and through the pipes in your own home all of which guarantees that clean water is accessible. You’ll learn about the complicated intersections of water rights with socioeconomics, public health, aging infrastructure, science, and public policy.

Have you thought about the journey water makes to get to your taps? What processes has it undergone to make it safe to drink? The tracks in this album examine issues of water supply and treatment in the UK, where each of us uses approximately 150 litres a day! We hear from different parties involved in water management including the bodies representing the consumer, the environment, and the suppliers. The scope of the discussion ranges from wastage and emergency treatment to recycling and effluent control. In two bonus audio tracks, OU lecturer Dr Suresh Nesaratnam explains why the case studies were selected and gives an overview of the academic context in which water supply and treatment is studied. This material forms part of The Open University course T210 Environmental control and public health.

54 degrees North has four series. The first documents the science and stories of climate change from local residents in the Smithers region of British Columbia. We're already facing climate impacts and are warming faster than other regions. We will need to both act and adapt. This podcast includes 6 episodes made possible from a Wetzinkwa Community Forest grant. It was recorded and produced by Nikki Skuce on unceded Witsuwit'en territory between August and November 2019. In 2020, the COVID19 pandemic highlighted the need for greater food security in the northwest. This 5-part series gathers tips and tricks from gardeners, explores programs to make growing food more accessible, and digs deeper into barriers and solutions to food security from regional food producers. The third included a follow up interview on Indigenous food sovereignty and an episode exploring the Healthy Watersheds Initiative projects in the Skeena. The latest season takes a look at salmon resilience and connections. Contact us at [email protected]
