Herzlich willkommen zu unserer Podcastreihe «Ecoutez! – 30 Werkgeschichten aus dem Aargauer Kunsthaus». Wie Sie vielleicht wissen, ist das Aargauer Kunsthaus bekannt für seine herausragende Sammlung an Schweizer Kunst. Rund 20'000 Werke vom 18. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart finden sich mittlerweile in unseren Depots und haben in verschiedenen Ausstellungen ihren Auftritt. Jedes dieser Werke birgt seine eigene Biografie und Charakteristik. Auf unserer Sammlung Online machen wir diese Geschichten mittels Werkbeschreibungen zugänglich.

Gelukkig zijn daar 'De Kunstkoeriers', een collectief dat het museum naar je toe brengt. Letterlijk. Elk weekend bellen ze bij je aan met een kunstwerk dat vlak daarvoor van een museummuur is getrokken. Ze vertellen je alles dat je moet weten, noodgedwongen in een paar minuten: de politie is naarstig op zoek naar hen en het schilderij.

Iran has a history that is steeped in poetry, music and art, an identity that has spread far beyond its borders. Time & Again considers Iran’s potent history through the epic poem, the Shahnama. No matter what gender, generation, class, religion or political inclination, every single Persian knows about the Shahnama. It is a text that tells tales of warriors and kings, love and betrayals and that has lasted for thousands of years, the resonance of which remains. This podcast explores this text through the lens of the artists and scholars that feel inspired by it and appreciate how a work of art, a poem, is one of the bedrocks of Persian society.

This podcast series is inspired by the exhibition In the Fields of Empty Days: The Intersection of Past and Present in Iranian Art, curated by Linda Komaroff, on view at LACMA from May 6 to September 9, 2018.

Jakob Smits (1855 – 1928) was een tegendraadse Nederlander. Tegen de zin van zijn ouders wijdde hij zijn leven aan de kunst. Tegen de zin van zijn eerste vrouw verliet hij zijn gezin en trok hij naar de Antwerpse Kempen, meerbepaald naar Mol. Hier ontplooide hij zich tot een volstrekt uniek kunstenaar.
