Have you always wanted to meet a survivor of the Holocaust? Maybe you've met a survivor but have always wished you could spend time with them to really know them. This is your opportunity. Each year fewer and fewer survivors are still with us. Don't wait for this honor - this privilege, really. "The Last Boy" takes you on a journey with host Steve Fisher and survivor Sid Taussig, back to World War II to Terezin Concentration Camp where 92 teenage boys in Dorm Number One risked their lives to published their own magazine, Vedem, right under the Nazis' noses. Towards the end of the war, 15 year old Sid was the very last boy in Dorm Number One, as all his friends had been transported East to Auschwitz. Not wanting the Nazis to burn the magazine in their attempts to destroy evidence of their atrocities, Sid buried it behind the blacksmith's forge. The blacksmith happened to be Sidney's father, and it would be that stroke of luck which would lead to his and the magazine's survival. When the Russians finally arrived to liberate Terezin in May of 945, Sid dug up Vedem and brought it back with him to Prague. If it hadn't been for him, the world would not know about this invaluable artifact that is not only the longest-running underground publication of the Holocaust, but the most important document for historians and the world to understand what life was like in Terezin. It is also a work of journalistic and literary art, created entirely by boys. The story of Sidney Taussig and the entries from the magazine he and his friends published will make you laugh, cry and cause you to marvel as it shines a light into the corners of the boys' hearts, minds and souls. You'll have the privilege of coming to know not only Sid, but other survivors of Terezin. You will be enchanted by this heartwarming, heartbreaking, and ultimately uplifting story of teenagers - most of whom would not survive - determined to do something extraordinary under impossible circumstances. By hearing about Sid's incredible journey, as well as Steve's journey to come to know and love him like the Jewish grandfather he never had, you'll go on your own journey. Oh, and make your plans to come to NYC to see the play that this podcast gave birth to. After a sold out world premier production, The Last Boy...a new play with music will make a triumphant return to Off Broadway from February 22nd to March 13th, 2022.

Introducing our new podcast series: Remembering Together.
It’s almost 80 years since the Netherlands was liberated, following 5 years of occupation. During that time the population was brutally suppressed.
Jews and other groups were deported and murdered as war raged through Europe.
In this podcast series - brought to you by the British Embassy in the Hague - we look at the impact of occupation and the holocaust on the Netherlands, the process of liberating the Netherlands, and the continued importance today of remembering what happened in the Netherlands.
This podcast is produced by Andy Clark of StudioLijn 14.

Shebrew in the City is a podcast exploring all things Jewish. Combining interviews and informational episodes, join Nicole Kelly as she discusses her journey with motherhood, spirituality, and everything from Hanukkah to the Holocaust. Giving a voice to modern Jews and spreading love and joy, whether you're Jewish, Jew-ish, or not anything resembling Jewish at all, there's something here for everyone.
Ilanit-Michele had been born and raised in the Jewish faith. But like her own mother Erika, she felt her faith had been force fed to her by her grandmother, Olga. As a young adult, Ilanit-Michele chose to minimise the Jewish aspects of her identity, and find her own path.
Then Olga’s memoir resurfaced in a box after her death, its first page specifically dedicated to her daughter and granddaughter. It told a tale of growing up in 1930s Hungary, surviving years in Auschwitz and other camps, and discovering at the war’s end that her family had been almost completely obliterated. Olga had never revealed the full story to anyone during her lifetime, and the manuscript had lain in its box for over twenty years.
Moved by the discovery, Ilanit-Michele and her mother began absorbing the story. They had it translated from Hungarian, went to visit the locations it mentioned and recorded the impact it had on their own views of family, history, faith and identity. Through travel, dialogue, interviews and reading out excerpts of Olga’s story, the lives of these three generations of women were rebraided, the tapestry of the family repaired and its Jewish heritage reconsidered.
