Who am I?

I am a Podcast Host and Producer from Pennsylvania. I started my first show Ol' Dirty Basement about a year ago with 2 lifelong friends. We just launched our second podcast called Vintage Cinema Review which started in the Ol' Dirty Basement. I have always been a fan of True Crime podcasts as well as shows dealing with historic events where you come away learning something new. I have always felt that the chemistry between Matt, Zap and I would make for an entertaining discussion no matter the topic which is why i created Ol' Dirty Basement. We are also 80s kids so we love reviewing classic cinema on our other show Vintage Cinema Review since we grew up on those movies.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My podcast is called Ol' Dirty Basement and we cover true crime and compelling stories in a bi-weekly show. I feel like our show delivers the listener with an entertaining look at whatever topic we cover through 3 different lenses. I feel you should come away learning something new or at the least a good laugh.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are all shows I listen to regularly with topics that mirror the content I am most interested in.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Dan Carlin's Hardcore History

Why this podcast?

Dan covers historic events on this podcast with episodes that are hours upon hours. The amount of research that is done must be insane. It's like sitting in a classroom with your favorite teacher. It is so informative and enjoyable!!

In "Hardcore History" journalist and broadcaster Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", unorthodox way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This isn't academic history (and Carlin isn't a historian) but the podcast's unique blend of high drama, masterful narration and Twilight Zone-style twists has entertained millions of listeners.

5. Scared To Death

Why this podcast?

This is another Dan cummins show that I enjoy. He does this show with his wife and they cover true horror. The stories are usually very well written and they cover a wide variety of supernatural events and other alleged hauntings. The banter is good between these two. Definitely check it out!

The paranormal comes to life as husband-wife duo Dan Cummins (acclaimed standup comedian and true horror fan) and Lynze Cummins (costume and wardrobe stylist for numerous film and television productions) share terrifying stories that will leave you sleeping with the lights on. Dan’s goal? To scare Lynze with creepy accounts of demonic possession, shadow people, and other eerie phenomena. And when he’s done, Lynze fights back with chilling fan-submitted tales of true horror. Together, they explore the darkest corners of the web, dusty old books, and even their own eerie surroundings—a studio filled with occult objects and located right next to a cemetery. Don’t forget to check out the mini-series Nightmare Fuel, airing on this feed the first and third Friday of every month, where Dan narrates a short piece of original horror fiction.
