Who am I?
Wanderlust runs through my veins like a wild river! Armed with nothing but a trusty backpack and an old-school paper map (because sometimes getting wonderfully lost is half the fun), I chase stories written in cobblestones and hidden in ancient walls. Every unknown city is my playground, and every local I meet adds another vibrant thread to the tapestry of my adventures. I'm not just a tourist – I'm a seeker of souls and stories, finding magic in those "pinch-me-I'm-really-here" moments when sharing tales with indigenous communities around the world. Born and raised in the bustling heart of Philadelphia, I cut my culinary teeth on the holy trinity of Philly comfort food: cheesesteaks that drip with attitude, Tastycakes that taste like childhood memories, and soft pretzels that could make a carb-counter weep. Then plot twist – enter Celiac Disease, stage left! But here's the thing: when life hands you gluten restrictions, you don't just make lemonade – you create a whole new recipe for adventure! Sure, navigating the gluten-free world can feel like solving a culinary puzzle sometimes, but I've turned that challenge into my superpower. Why let a little dietary detail clip your wings when there's a whole world of amazing, safe, and mouthwatering dishes waiting to be discovered? This passion for breaking down barriers led me to create the Travel Gluten Free Podcast and pen "The Guide to Traveling Gluten Free" – because everyone deserves to taste freedom (quite literally!) while exploring this beautiful planet. Think of it as your passport to worry-free wandering, packed with all the tricks and tips I've gathered from countless adventures. These days, you'll find me living my best life in McMinnville, Oregon, where the Willamette Valley's vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see (and yes, wine is gloriously gluten-free!). When I'm not hiking through emerald forests or pitching a tent under star-studded skies, I'm plotting my next expedition to uncover hidden gluten-free gems across the globe. Because life's too short not to chase waterfalls, summit mountains, and sample every safe, scrumptious dish this world has to offer! I didn't exactly choose gluten-free travel - Celiac Disease chose it for me! But what I love about my story is how I transformed this medical necessity into a powerful mission. My journey shows that while Celiac Disease changed my relationship with food (goodbye, traditional Philly cheesesteaks!), it never diminished my adventurous spirit or my love of culinary exploration. As a native Philadelphian who grew up cherishing local comfort foods, I understand firsthand how deeply food is woven into cultural experiences and travel memories. When Celiac Disease threatened to complicate my wanderlust, instead of letting it limit me, I saw an opportunity to help others facing the same challenges. I recognized that many gluten-free travelers might feel anxious or restricted when exploring new places, potentially missing out on both the joy of travel and authentic food experiences. This realization led me to create resources like the Travel Gluten Free Podcast and "The Guide to Traveling Gluten Free" - tools that empower others in the gluten-free community to travel confidently. My choice to focus on gluten-free travel wasn't just about adapting to my own needs; it was about building a bridge for others who might otherwise feel their dietary restrictions prevent them from fully experiencing the world's wonders. In essence, I didn't just choose gluten-free travel - I chose to transform a personal challenge into a way to help others find their freedom to explore, discover new foods, and experience different cultures, all while staying safely gluten-free. It's a beautiful example of how sometimes life's biggest obstacles can lead us to our most meaningful purpose!

My adventures aren't just about checking off destinations; they're about diving deep into the heart of a place, where grandmother's recipes and street food wisdom reveal the soul of a culture. Every new city, every hidden village, every bustling marketplace holds the promise of that next "wow" moment – the kind that makes your heart skip a beat and your taste buds sing. Whether it's discovering a tucked-away trattoria in an Italian alley, joining a family's traditional cooking ritual in Thailand, or stumbling upon a secret recipe passed down through generations in Morocco, these are the experiences that fuel my wanderlust and keep my bucket list ever-expanding. For me, each adventure is a new chapter in an endless story of discovery!
