I am a lifelong Superman fan, documentary filmmaker, and podcast host. While attending law school, I fulfilled a long-held ambition by turning the camera on Alternate Realities, the New York comic book store where I worked for more than a decade. The result, My Comic Shop DocumentARy, screened at film festivals across the country and garnered press in multiple media outlets, including The New York Times. I followed this film with the award-winning short By Spoon! The Jay Meisel Story and the intimate Wacky Man: The Rise of a Puppeteer. With My Comic Shop Country (successfully funded via Kickstarter and now streaming now on Amazon, Apple TV, and Tubi), I widened my focus to comics retail across America, shining a light on an oft-overlooked side of the industry and revealing the power of comic book stores to bring people together. As a podcaster, I host a network of shows, including: Digging for Kryptonite, Another Exciting Episode in the Adventures of Superman, Summoning the Zords, and My Comic Shop History, available on all major podcast platforms. I am also a contributing writer at 13th Dimension and The Daily Planet. 30 years ago, I stood in front of a comic shop advertising “The Death of Superman” in its window display. That moment outside Heroes World set me on a path, a lifelong fan journey leading directly from that tattered red cape to my current flagship podcast. On DIGGING FOR KRYPTONITE, my guests and I examine Superman’s vast, 85-year mythology by examining, discovering, & reconsidering the stories that have shaped the Last Son of Krypton.

Digging for Kryptonite: A Superman Fan Journey is an examination of Krypton’s Last Son across time and media, with deep dives into the creative visions, character elements, eras, and individual stories that have shaped the Man of Steel and the wider DC Universe for 85 years. We approach Superman in comics, film, television, animation, and more with an open mind and a desire to understand each depiction within both its specific context as well as the larger Superman mythology.
