The best podcasts for Food Reviews

Who am I?

My name is Daniel Zafran and I have been a lover of food for even longer than I've been working in podcasting, which I think is forever. I have hosted a show on Los Angeles history for over 10 years and a candy review show for 2 now as well as being the producer on Jordan, Jesse, Go! and editing for The J.V. Club with Janet Varney. Food is my passion/obsession and if I can't be eating it I might as well be listening to people talk about it. When the pandemic hit I realized that it could all be over at any minute and I would have lived my life never having tried an Abba Zabba. This is why I decided to make a whole show based around trying every type of candy there is and also learning what their stories were which is something I think we all take for granted.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My show Candy Is Dandy is the world's only candy review podcast. In each episode we pick a different candy, give its history and then taste and review it live on the air.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are a few of my favorite shows that review food. That way you know what to spend your money/calories on.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Doughboys

Why this podcast?

This is the go to food review podcast. Both hosts are legends within the world of recent alt-comedy (Comedy Bang! Bang! and The Birthday Boys) and the show is deeply funny with great and helpful reviews of chain restaurants.

The podcast about chain restaurants. Comedians Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger review fast food/sit-down chains and generally argue about food/everything.

2. The Sloppy Boys

Why this podcast?

Another show hosted by recent comedy legends. This time 3 of the members of the sketch comedy group The Birthday Boys. This show focuses on a different alcoholic drink each episode as well as giving its history. Truly funny and also opens your eyes (and mouth?) to a lot of new drinks.

3. Candy Is Dandy: The Candy Review Podcast

Why this podcast?

Of course this is on the list. The show focuses on a different candy each episode, many common, some uncommon and gives their backstory and a verdict on whether or not they may be worth the cavities. The show is a lot of fun including games and a lot of joking around to round things out.

5. Face Jam

Why this podcast?

This long running show sets out to try each and every weird new menu item that comes out at fast food/chain restaurants. The show is a lot of fun as it goes through all the things you might think sound interesting to order but are deep down afraid of how disgusting they may be.

Fast food creations are coming out too fast to keep track of- luckily Michael Jones and Jordan Cwierz are here to eat and judge every new menu item under the sun. One has high standards. The other has no taste. Subscribe now at http://bit.ly/FaceJamSubscribe.
