The best podcasts for Comedic Fiction That's Occasionally Horrifying

Share

Who am I?

I am a math tutor, a comedy fiction podcaster, and the kind of guy who sits around staring at a wall and wondering what he's doing with his life. I love comedy, particularly when it's frequently off-putting. A number of these podcasts were what gave me the inspiration to go into podcasting to begin with, and so I think that they're particularly worth mentioning.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My podcast, Liminal Criminals, is a comedy fiction podcast that has the conceit of being a true crime podcast from another world. While it generally leans towards the absurd and comedic, some episodes introduce a somewhat horrific element that certain nerds may classify as "eldritch."

What is my podcast playlist about?

My podcast playlist is all about the three F's: Funny, Fictional and Freaky. If you want to laugh, be fascinated, and occasionally scared by the you podcast, these are some of my all-time favorites in that regard.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Beef And Dairy Network

Why this podcast?

Have you ever wondered where your meat comes from? Have you ever wondered if there are meats in the world other than beef, pork, chicken and lamb? Do you want to know the danger posed to you by tiny cows, or the sordid tale of noted slaughterhouse proprietor and religious figurehead Eli Roberts? This is the podcast for you.

Less is Morgue is an award-winning comedy fiction podcast about Riley, a paranoid ghoul, and Evelyn, a cheerful ghost who died at a Nickelback concert in 2004. Together, they host a basement talk show where paranormal chaos is par for the course. Set in an alternate Tallahassee, Florida, where monsters are mundane and the supernatural is typical, you can expect a whirlwind of absurdist horror-comedy, more eccentric characters than you can possibly imagine, and a strangely touching story about friendship, found family, and personal growth.
