We believe that pop-culture is the mythology of this generation. There is a story written on our souls. These myths speak to that story. Tatooine Sons was launched in December 2017 as "Tatooine Sons: A Star Wars Podcast." In December of 2018, Nathan (one of the hosts) asked Rian Johnson, the writer/director of "The Last Jedi": "What is the name of the porg on the Millennium Falcon?" Rian Johnson responded: "What do YOU think his name is?" When Nathan answered, "Maybe Terbus?" no one really believed the character would become official. But after a year and a half #MakeTerbusCanon campaign on social media, the character was officially named in the all-ages comic book series "Star Wars Adventures," issues 27-29. There are hundreds of different podcasts that cover movies, TV, video games, comic books, fantasy novels, RPG and on and on. But finding podcasts that talk about the fandoms we all love so much - but from a Christian worldview - are much more challenging to find. Another big struggle for Christian Nerds is finding shows that don't drift down a path toward covering content in ways that makes the Christian Nerd feel uncomfortable. At Tatooine Sons, our rule is if we wouldn't listen to it in front of our kids, we probably shouldn't be listening to it. Unfortunately, that limits nerd podcasts even more. Finally, there are some amazing Christian Nerd podcasts that need exposure. In over 5 years of producing a podcast, we've been privileged to get to know so many amazing Christian Nerds and we want to amplify their voices.

We love how pop-culture helps us see that there is something bigger in the world. We discuss Star Wars, the MCU, DC, comic books, the Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Cobra Kai and pretty much anything else pop-culture related through the lens of modern mythology and the "greater story" we believe this mythology points toward. Tatooine Sons: A Pop Culture Podcast always approaches the fandoms we all love from a Christian worldview, looking closely at how these epic stories teach us about ourselves, our world, and how we as Christians live and thrive within it.
