The best podcasts for Canadian baseball lovers

Who am I?

I'm a husband, father of two, son and brother who, career-wise, was a former radio personality who now works in media relations and dabbles in media through Alberta Dugout Stories. Our goal is to share the stories of baseball in our province, as we have a rich history but also a busy scene here with the Western Canadian Baseball League, a number of academies, and, of course, the grassroots organizations. Baseball has always been a passion of mine, as has storytelling. So marrying the two made it easy to create a podcast for our side hustle, Alberta Dugout Stories.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My podcast is about baseball in Alberta, and it relates to the playlist topic as I wanted to share a few of the shows that I also listen to.

What is my podcast playlist about?

It's about baseball in Canada and beyond. I wanted to put together a list of shows that our listeners might appreciate, as I believe they marry our love of baseball and storytelling.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Deep Left Field with Mike Wilner

Why this podcast?

This is a great podcast for Toronto Blue Jays fans to get updated on their team. Beyond that, Mike gets great guests from both dugouts that really give this show depth.

Longtime Toronto Blue Jays radio voice Mike Wilner hosts Deep Left Field, a baseball podcast from the Toronto Star. With great baseball coverage, opinion and analysis from Mike and other Star sports journalists including Laura Armstrong and Gregor Chisholm, as well as MLB players and others in the game, Deep Left Field has everything you need to know about the Jays, specifically, and baseball in general.

2. The Chris Rose Rotation (MLB Players Podcast)

Why this podcast?

Chris' interview style is just out of this world. He's so laid-back but gets to the point. Plenty of laughs each episode, but I also find myself feeling more informed afterwards as well.

5. A Swing and a Belt with Dan Shulman

Why this podcast?

We really hope this one comes back soon. Dan is the ultimate storyteller and always had great guests joining him to talk about baseball. While these episodes might be a couple of years old now, they're still great to listen to.
