The best podcasts about The Medium of Comics 📚

I’d like to tell you all that I love all of these amazing shows equally — and while I agree they each bring that special sauce that every comic fan will love, First Issue Club is MY personal favorite comic book podcast on this list (do NOT tell Greg, it’ll go straight to his head). Hosted by Greg, Mike, and Andy, these three KC boyz cover, you guessed it, all of the notable first issues of that week! They also discuss topical news happening in the nerd world, along with the rare creator interview. Wednesday Warriors will be refreshing their feed for new episodes of this excellent podcast.

You’ve probably seen this show on many of these lists, and for good reason — Comic Book Couples Counseling Podcast is the pinnacle of our specific genre. Chances are that if you are reading this right now, you are already following CBCC and love their show as much as I do. “Each week, married couple Brad and Lisa explore the various dynamics of comic book relationships throughout pop culture and publishing history.” That’s the synopsis they offer, and while I feel like that covers it quite well, what they don’t say there is you will envy their knowledge on the medium, they are among the best at creator interviews, and the hilarious (slash loving) banter is what sets them apart from the pack.

Since 2012, The Short Box Podcast has been churning out one of the best comic book podcasts in all the land. Host Badr Milligan (and pieces of his crew that join from time to time) act as the place to be in the comic book podcasting landscape — a show where every episode feels like you are in a conversation with friends you’ve known since Iron Man was still showing every Saturday morning on Fox Kids. Comic reviews, artist spotlights, and creator interviews make The Short Box the most consistently excellent podcast on this list.

Pretty obvious, right? If we are talking about the best comic book podcasts, Off Panel being absent from this list would be sacrilegious. David would probably humbly disagree with this statement, but Off Panel, along with his column-based comic site SKTCHD, sets the benchmark in our genre of covering comic books in a journalistic fashion. This is simply the best interview podcast for comic book fans, and second place isn’t really that close.

Another show you’ve seen on many lists like this, and that is definitely not a mistake — Comic Book Keepers are the deep-dive conversation podcast every comic book yearns for. The premise is simple: hosts Chris and Lance choose a character each week and discuss their powers, abilities, origin, and history in comics. If that sounds so simple it’s genius, that’s because it is.
