Who am I?
I am an actor, improvisor, author, poker player and entrepreneur originally from Aurora, IL. (Wayne's World). I have appeared on such hit shows as MADtv, The Sarah Silverman Program, Cedric The Entertainer Presents:, Reno 911, The Bold & The Beautiful & ABC's To Tell The Truth. In 2016 I appeared opposite Nicholas Cage in The Trust. I have also appeared in dozens of commercials representing such brands as, Disney, Cricket, Dodge, Toyota & Visa. Look out for me on Seth McFarlane's latest TV show Ted, on Peacock this year, 2023! I produced, edited, and filmed Keep It Green with Sarah Vato and Shelley Pack, which led to Sarah and Shelley being the first talent to be hired by Discovery Channel’s Planet Green for their new show The G Word. I co-founded ¡Salsation, Comedy with a Latin Flavor! in Chicago and ¡Barrio Speedwagon! in LA., our hit show, ¡Touched by an Anglo! ran in Chicago and LA for many months to critical acclaim and accolades in both cities. I trained at iO Theater, The Second City and Annoyance theater in Chicago and had the amazing opportunity to study with improv comedy guru and legend, Del Close, who directed me in several shows at iO in Chicago. I am now based in Los Angeles and Las Vegas where I own Vato Cigars. My latest projects are, BAD hOMbre YOGA, a healthy lifestyle brand and Paul Vato Presents: A Celebrity Centric Podcast! As some of you may or may not know, the World Series of Poker is upon us. Every year poker players from around the globe gather in Las Vegas (actually it's Paradise, Nv.) to compete in a variety of poker tournaments, culminating in what is referred to as "The Main Event". The Main Event has a 10k buy-in, unchanged since the WSOP's humble beginnings inside Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Downtown Las Vegas in 1970. This year it is expected that the record for entries into the Main Event will be a record breaker. It is expected that around 9,000 or more poker players, of various degrees of expertise, will vie for a portion of their share of the 90+ MILLION dollars up for grabs. My guess is that this year's world champion will take home around 11 million dollars! Not too shabby for a week of work. For 11 years I owned and operated Vato Cigars inside Binion's Casino on Fremont St. I became entrenched in the rich history of not only Binion's Casino but it's environs. I have lead "Cigar Crawls" through downtown Las Vegas where I would explain the often jaw dropping history of it's more intimate casinos and local legends, Benny Binion being one of them. This is why I chose this topic for this particular list. I hope that you enjoy it and get to learn a little more about poker. Thank you for listening and following my podcast, Paul Vato Presents here on Goodpods!
My Show
What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?
My podcast, Paul Vato Presents, is my passion project and where I get to interview my celebrity friends from the world of entertainment, social media, poker, business & more. You get to meet, laugh & learn from well known actors, improvisors, comedians, authors, poker players, social media stars, business owners and industry leaders from around the globe. I have interviewed several poker celebrities on Paul Vato Presents already and found them to be not only very interesting to listen to but also very knowledgeable on many other aspects of life. Poker is a very mental game and not considered gambling since it is considered a game of skill, a message that I hope to share with my listeners. I look forward to interviewing more stars and celebrities of the poker world but in the mean time, I thoroughly enjoy listing to their very entertaining poker podcasts and I hope that you will also enjoy them. Paul Vato Presents is recorded LIVE on Fireside in front of a live studio audience. Fireside is owned by Falon Fatemi and Mark Cuban.

Whether you are poker pro, amateur or neophyte, I highly recommend that you give some of these poker podcasts a listening to. I look forward to meeting you next time that you visit Vegas and remember, in life, just like in poker, sometimes all you need is a "chip and a chair"!
1. Poker in the Ears
Why this podcast?
I had the distinct honor of interviewing Joe "Stapes" Stapleton, the co-host of Poker in the Ears Podcast, on Paul Vato Presents. He was one of my first guests for which I will always be eternally grateful. Please give his episode a listen when time permits. I reconnected with Joe when he walked into Vato Cigars inside Binion's Casino years after I had first met him when he worked as an intern on MADtv. We reminisced about our time at MADtv, celebrating his 21st birthday and our trip to Las Vegas. Turns out that in the meantime, Joe had gone off to London and made himself famous as a stand up comedian and color commentator for the exciting world of high stakes & tournament poker! For 2 years Joe traveled with and opened for Norm McDonald, until, well, you know. Apparently dreams did come true for this self described "hooker with a heart of gold"! Poker in the Ears Podcast is the winner of the 2021 Global Poker Award for Best Poker Podcast, Poker in the Ears takes you behind-the-scenes of the international poker circuit. Hosted by PokerStars commentators James Hartigan and Joe "Stapes" Stapleton, it’s a mostly uncensored take on the world of poker, told from the perspective of a cranky British dad (Hartigan) and an undateable American bachelor (Stapes). The presenters also regularly call in favors, in the form of guest spots from their big-shot celebrity poker-playing friends. And they routinely hold on-air competitions, providing chances for listeners to win prizes. 18+ BeGambleAware.org Play responsibly

3. The Tournament Poker Edge Podcast
Why this podcast?
As the WSOP was heating up I decided to go to The Strip and play a little poker at the newly branded Horseshoe Casino (formally Bally's). I was also looking to check out ClubGG's Platinum Lounge, more on that later. After an exciting run at the low stakes poker table I went and sat at the Horseshoe's front bar (I forget the name) to play a little video poker and get some comped drinks. (Maybe I should do a podcast on how to get comped drinks in Vegas?) I don't like to drink whilst playing live poker or when it's daylight out, just an fyi. I had the good fortune of meeting a fellow poker player, Darrin, whom I just happened to sit next to. Poker players are some of the nicest people that you will ever meet, off the felt that is. He shared with me a couple of his favorite podcast and I will pass them on to you. The Tournament Poker Edge Podcast is the only poker podcast that is dedicated to MTT strategy. Each episode, your host Clayton Fletcher invites a rotating cast of TPE pros, and other special guests, in to cover MTT strategy both in theory and in practice by going over hand histories. They also cover general MTT strategy topics and news from around the poker tournament community. NOTE: MTT stands for, Multi Table Tournaments. 18+ BeGambleAware.org Play responsibly

4. Upswing Poker Level-Up
Why this podcast?
Here is another wonderful suggestion from my new best friend, Darrin! Improve your poker skills fast with short, hyper-focused episodes covering crucial poker topics. Hosted by VP of Upswing Poker Mike Brady and poker pro Gary Blackwood. REVIEWS "In-depth but concise. Love that it’s pure value in a short amount of time, not two buddies just blathering on for two hours about non-poker personal stuff. Also, it’s truly great strategic content. Not just surface stuff that’s just marketing in disguise to get you to buy their products." "Solid information for all aspects of poker. All backed with reason and methodology. Excellent extension of the Up Swing Poker lab while on the go." "I’m in the upswing lab and find this a great addition to listen to in my car. Love it." 18+ BeGambleAware.org Play responsibly

5. Chasing Poker Greatness
Why this podcast?
The Chasing Poker Greatness podcast isn’t just a podcast — it’s a convergence of all things poker! Featuring interviews with top poker pros and inspirational poker mindset visionaries, spliced with weekly episodes of Tactical Tuesday and Philosophical Friday, the CPG pod is fast becoming the commentary, philosophy, performance, history, and strategy breakdown leader in the poker podcasting space. Poker pro and CPG founder Brad Wilson has spent every waking day since 2019 diving headlong into all of the above, grinding out well over 200 episodes and counting to find out what makes the top pros tick, how to better mentally contextualize this crazy game, and basically trying to decipher with his guests what the best route to reaching poker greatness could possibly be. Or like some things, is the journey more important than the destination? In addition to weekly strategy sessions with online poker crusher Jon Chai (Tactical Tuesday) and weekly philosophical explorations with UCLA professor Duncan Palamourdas (Philosophical Friday), longform interview guests on the podcast have included: Matt Berkey, Phil Hellmuth, DGAF, Nick Howard, Johnny Vibes, Kristen Bicknell, David Tuchman, Tommy Angelo, Matt Vaughan, Jonathan Little, Maria Konnikova, James Romero, Martin Jacobsen, Eli Elezra, Landon Tice, Greg Raymer, Marle Cordeiro, Norman Chad, James Sweeney, The Poker Guys, Jungleman, and so many more. As a podcast that is virtually ad-free (they usually only shill CPG courses), you won’t find yourself fidgeting for the fast-forward button like you’re forced to do every five minutes with other podcasts. Due to the intimate interview and deep strategy format of their podcast episodes, they like to keep things as uninterrupted as possible, so you can binge as many episodes as you like on your long commute or horrible household chores. Not bad for a free podcast! Unfortunately, they have a strict "NO REFUNDS" policy. 18+ BeGambleAware.org Play responsibly
