Who am I?

I am a writer, college educator and television film critic. In addition, I am a self-proclaimed 80s Pop Culture Expert. (I've won several trivia nights to prove it!) I write, produce and co-host the Made-For TV Movie Club podcast. #mftvmcpodcast I chose this subject, because I've always had an interest in the mysteries behind why people disappear, and why the families are often left to their own devices when trying to find the fate of their loved ones. Growing up (and still today), my favorite tv show was Unsolved Mysteries.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

I am writer, producer and cohost of the Made-For-Tv Movie Club podcast. We watch tv movies from the 1970s, 80s and 90s and recap and review them on our podcast. We do have a special interest in retro tv movies that are "based on a true story." We add an element of true crime reporting in a segment at the end of these episodes called "The Real Murders of the Made-for-TV Movie Club." In this segment we talk about the real crimes behind the movies, and how the tv movie differed from the actual events.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are the best podcasts that discuss missing persons (and sometimes unsolved crimes, as well.) While there are many choices within this genre, these are my go-to choices when I listen to podcasts, and have listened to each of them for several years.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Unsolved Mysteries

Why this podcast?

This podcast was rebooted along with the Netflix tv show reboot. While it does cover other crimes and mysteries, it is well researched and polished, and each episode focuses on one featured story.

5. Unfound

Why this podcast?

Unlike the other choices, this podcast is interview-based. Ed Dentzel interviews someone intricately involved in the missing person's life, typically a family member, but occasionally other people directly related to the events leading up to the disappearance. The missing persons are typically considered cold cases. Some, like the interviews with Lauria Bible's mom and Suzanne Lyall's mom, are high profile cases. But, he also covers lesser-known cases. It is a solid podcast that offers a deeper glimpse into the lives of the disappeared, and how it affects their loved ones.
