The best podcasts about being immersive with D&D

share icon

Share

Who am I?

Were a bunch of technicians of various trades that enjoy all things nerdy; ranging from Star Wars to D&D to PC building. Some of our interests are playing saxophone, camping, rebuilding consoles, gaming and streaming. Who in our casts enjoys each? We'll leave that for you to guess! Our casts boasts knowledge in D&D ranging between 20 years to 4 years. Icewind Dale fits that perfect isolated setting where you don't need to be an lifelong player, but is a fun introduction into playing D&D. It also is a fantastic module if we can inspire anyone to pick up this module and run as a DM

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Our podcast is running through Icewind Dale: RIme of the Frostmaiden which is a fantastically created D&D module by Wizards of the Coast. Our goal is to mix Aussie humour with the horrifying setting of Icewind Dale, which sounds very bizarre and we hope that entices you!

What is my podcast playlist about?

Our picks are of talented and well produced D&D podcasts that are largely set in their own homebrew worlds. They are a variety that range between family friendly to explicit, mostly to showcase what a large range of content can be produced with D&D!

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Roll Britannia - A British Dungeons & Dragons 5e Podcast

Why this podcast?

This amazing British podcast showcases how a bunch of relatively new players can create and play through their own swashbuckling world and succeed! They're wonderfully quick-witted (as all Brits are) and dramatic when the time comes. The NPCs in the world are memorable and the cast have a great chemistry between each other which really helps sell the immersion.

A British DnD 5e comedy podcast from 6 Brits, with little to no experience in dungeons or dragons. Join James (the DM), Tom (Keth Frostiron), Chip (Jeff Silverbow), Paul (Malrus Tosscobble), Alex (Derek Normalbeard) and Sophie (River) on their pirate adventure, as they explore the world of Dungeons and Dragons (but badly). 2. Tales of Three

Why this podcast?

A perfect example of a American LGBTQ+ inclusive show that is hilarious as it is down to earth. The cast is a beautiful combination of lovable and unforgettable, all distinct in personality and accents. If you're after a show that's set in a rich and unique homebrew world, this is a must listen!

3. Adventurers Anonymous - A British D&D Podcast

Why this podcast?

This British group loves to drink, loves to get into calamitous shenanigans and really know how to spin negativity into positivity. While they have a very Adult Only show, they also play host to engaging interviews with their cast members as well as TTRPG community creators. If you love listening to Brits who get sloshed and have a good time, this is a show for you!

Adventurers Anonymous - A British D&D Podcast

A group of dangerously codependent British misfits gather around a microphone, sip cocktails, and seek a glorious demise in a Dungeons & Dragons themed actual play comedy podcast.

With a cast that includes a failed Crocoborn sorcerer, turned children’s party entertainer, a dirty old human priest, on the brink of the afterlife, a retired half-orc police officer, a sassy blue Tiefling, surrounded by bees and a retired Gnome archer with PTSD. So, if you like your plot lines thin and crispy, and your language to be saltier than a sailor's beard, welcome aboard!

Disappointing the TTRPG & D&D Community since 2020. Not suitable for little ears. This show is mostly improvised and entirely inappropriate. Listener discretion is advised.

A brand new episode every Tuesday.

4. The Billowing Hilltop - A D&D Podcast

Why this podcast?

We would define Billowing Hilltop as one of the best shows that really makes you feel like your sitting down at a table with a bunch of very knowledgeable wise men having a good time. Despite the show having no one sit at the same table, the story and cast really have created an immersive experience. This is a must listen!

A Dungeons & Dragons actual play podcast. Ancient Brits play D&D 5E as they lurch headlong through the classic Paizo Age of Worms Adventure Path! Join us at our table for a mix of adventure, laughs and hapless incompetence. But mostly hapless incompetence.

5. Tomes of the Chaos Bard: A Family Friendly, Fantasy, 5E Dungeons and Dragons Actual Play Podcast

Why this podcast?

The peek definition of Family Friendly meets D&D. We would label Tomes as peek wholesome content with their own lovely community and colouring pages for the kids (and adults!). The cast is absolutely lovely and the content is exactly what you need if you want something to de-stress and have fun with.

A family-friendly, fantasy-focused, Homebrew Dungeons and Dragons, DND, actual-play podcast.
