EP10 - Beatriz Pinheiro & Inês de Castro: The Challenges and Differences of Beach Volleyball, How to Organize Your Life Around Professional Sports, and the Secrets of Motivation
Get ready for some ‘double trouble’! I am so happy to bring to you the first professional Portuguese female beach volleyball team: Beatriz Pinheiro and Inês de Castro! Beach volleyball is such a different world (maybe even a different sport right?) from indoor volleyball, so talking to these young players that chose to follow the professional path so early gave me great insights on many many things. We talked about the main differences between beach and indoor volleyball, how to cope with being a professional athlete and a student at the same time, and Beatriz and Inês also shared a lot about how they evolved as a team and how their relationship and communication got better every season. I hope you enjoy learning more about the mental side of beach volleyball, the tactics and everything else connected to being a two person team. Don’t be shy and share your thoughts on the comment section! I would really appreciate to have your opinion on the voting section too (5 stars if it’s not too much to ask eheh!). If you’d like a bonus communication platform, I’m on Instagram @martahurst and I read every message, so I’ll hear you out for sure.

EP12 - Maria Reis Lopes: Handling Different Roles in a Volleyball Team, and How to Know When to Leave Your Comfort Zone and Grow from It
Get ready for your last guest episode before Christmas! Today you’ll be able to hear about Maria’s growth as a player throughout her career, and how she was (and still is!) able to juggle her student life with her professional athlete life. We also talked about how Maria handles her responsabilities in different team environments and how her mind has to shift when she plays opposite or outside hitter. It was great to have such an open conversation about the joys and struggles of the growth of a young volleyball player, not only inside the clubs she represented, but also at a National Team level. To follow Maria’s volleyball journey, you can search her Instagram handle @mariareislopes and give her a follow!
