July 27th 1996, Atlanta, Georgia. The Summer Olympics are in full swing when a bomb goes off in Centennial Park amidst spectators, musical acts, and vendors. 111 people are injured and 2 killed. Those numbers would have been a lot worse had it not been for the actions of Richard Jewell, a security guard who noticed an unattended backpack. Richard went from savior to public enemy number in what felt like a matter of days when it was discovered he was under investigation for the attack. Listen to his story here.
