This is a show where friends – hilarious, opinionated friends who happen to be successful entrepreneurs, investors & operators – comment on all things business, culture, current events and whatever the hell else they want to talk about. From Kanye to Kavanaugh, IPOs to DUIs, no topic is off-limits...as long as hosts Chris “Drama” Pfaff, Dee Murthy and Anand Murthy have something to say about it. In a world of fake news, poor judgment, and overall bad decision-making, we’re here to give you the facts...or at least, the facts as we see them. @drama @deemurthy @anandmurthy

Stocks-in-Depth thoroughly examines the fundamentals of reasonably valued high-quality small and mid-cap growth companies. It is produced by GARP Research, a provider of equity research to institutions including many of the most well-known fund managers for over 20 years. GARP is known for its granular modelling of business lines and in-depth assessment of competition and served markets. Stocks-in-Depth searches for value and growth by researching stocks that may be out of favor, or where a major catalyst to earnings growth is hidden. Our financial models attempt to shed light on trends underneath opaque segment reporting. Stocks in Depth emphasizes balance sheet accounts and profitability margins to determine underlying return on capital, and maintains healthy skepticism regarding pro forma adjustments and undue reliance upon unconventional measures such as EBITDA. We emphasize field visits with managements, industry conferences, non-public competitors and ancillary fields to detect industry dynamics. In our search for the best companies and investment opportunities, we often challenge the consensus view. StocksinDepth forecasts over the long-term, typically over about a three year horizon, and review track records going back for years.

In Virtual Vice by Jason M. Kays, readers follow disillusioned entertainment attorney Ian McKenzie as his professional life takes a decided turn for the questionable when he is hired by the charismatic and dangerous Scott White to represent Scott’s interests in his cutting edge Internet startup, Metropoleis Multimedia. Unfortunately for Ian, Scott has more in common with Scarface’s Tony Montana than Apple’s Steve Jobs, and things go from questionable to deadly in no time flat. As Scott’s confidant and consigliore, Ian soon finds himself caught between the Feds, La Cosa Nostra, and the Cali Cartel in a fatal game of corporate winner-take-all. Kays masterfully weaves the nuts and bolts of legal maneuverings and corporate worst-practices into an engaging and unpredictable thrill ride of a crime novel. Filled with wry humor and twists and turns galore, Virtual Vice keeps you guessing and wanting more while entertaining every step of the way.

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt took office in 1933, one in four Americans was out of work nationally, but in some cities and some industries unemployment was well over 50 percent. Equally troubling were the bank panics. Between 1929 and 1931, 4,000 banks closed for good; by 1933 the number rose to more than 9,000, with $2.5 billion in lost deposits. Banks never have as much in their vaults as people have deposited, and if all depositors claim their money at once, the bank is ruined. Millions of Americans lost their money because they arrived at the bank too late to withdraw their savings. The panics raised troubling questions about credit, value, and the nature of capitalism itself. And they made clear the unpredictable relationship between public perception and general financial health—the extent to which the economy seemed to work as long as everyone believed that it would. To stop the run on banks, many states simply closed their banks the day before Roosevelt’s inauguration. Roosevelt himself declared a four-day “bank holiday” almost immediately upon taking office and made a national radio address on Sunday, March 12, 1933, to explain the banking problem. Then until 1944 FDR spoke to America as the depression gave rise to World War II.
