Welcome to a new show from Philthy, the long suffering friend of WTFDYW?!'s host DeadbeatpunK. You see there used to be a static dynamic between the two, Punk played the games and bored the pish out of Philthy by talking about these games.
Well, times are a surely changing. As some prick would sing. Philthy has begun playing through games all by himself. Leaving voice messages to DeadbeatpunK and the two discuss his progress.
Please feel free to offer us advice or abuse. both are welcomed:

From the Norman Invasion to the War of Independence, the Great Famine to the Troubles, the Irish History Podcast takes you on a journey through the most fascinating stories in Ireland's past. Whether it’s the siege of Dublin in 1171 or gun battles in the 1920s, the podcast vividly recreates a sense of time and place. Each episode is meticulously researched, creating character-driven narratives that are engaging and accessible for all.
Since the first episode was released back in 2010, the podcast has covered scores of captivating stories. Major multi-part series have explored the Great Famine, the Norman Invasion, and Irish involvement in the Spanish Civil War. If you are looking for standalone episodes, there are lots of great interviews with leading Irish historians covering topics from medieval sex magic to Irish connections in the Jack the Ripper murders!
Why not start with 'Three Days in July', an acclaimed mini-series from the summer of 2024. It explores the early years of the Troubles and the forgotten story of a young Londoner who was shot dead by the British Army in Belfast in 1970.

When Sarah watched her 23 year old daughter cycle away from her in Chelsea - a well-off corner of London - she had no idea it would be the last time they’d see each other for 6 years. What would make a loving child from a life of privilege sever ties with friends and family, and disappear?
It turns out, Sarah wasn’t alone in losing a daughter. Something strange was happening to other young women, too.
And they all had one thing in common: a kind of therapist figure - a woman they were all seeing and sharing their problems, their secrets, their fears with. But it took years for the truth of what was happening behind closed doors to emerge, and the extraordinary things this woman led them to believe.
Dangerous Memories is the story of young women who wanted to be healed that became, for us, a story about the healer, and what we risk when we let someone else into our mind, and our memory.

For generations, Ireland has had a culture and reputation for a good "sing song", be it the sorrow of a funeral, the the joy of a wedding, the roller-coaster build up and fall of a GAA match day, a pub lock in and everything in between.
While we may hear the same songs belted or butchered, we probably don't know the meaning of many of them.
In the podcast, I try to get an understanding of some of these songs, not only the the heavy hitters but some perhaps lesser known and personal favourites from folk ballads to rebel songs.
Tales, theories, song suggestions or general comments can be sent to [email protected]

Having served over thirty years in the RUC / PSNI I was medically retired with CPTSD. Dissociative Identity Disorder also evolved in me as a residue of CPTSD. I wrote a novel, 'The Bitter End of Dreams', through which I hoped to reflect the experiences of working class folk caught in the grip of a sectarian conflict. I set my story in Belfast, but replaced the Judeo-Christian god with that of Mithras. I also gave Northern Ireland an extra county. Such counterfactual alterations opened up for me the opportunity to place my story deep within the NI Troubles without being shackled to specific timelines, events and real people - thus avoiding the risk of libelling anyone, while being able to write a story, familiar to many, and retaining a sense of place and the tragedy of the Troubles. I'm going to talk openly about elements of policing the Troubles, religion, politics, sectarianism and our toxic ideologies. I've explored these topics in my novel, as well as the placing of actual events and atrocities; albeit heavily disguised or deeply submerged in subtext. To better frame my thoughts I will, firstly, discuss each chapter in sequence before reading that chapter. In this way I should be able to complete a spoken word version of my novel while using the opportunity it provides to elaborate on its creation process in the context of the NI Troubles.Thank you.

Cassidy Travel is Irelands multi award winning travel agent and in this series we will be interviewing industry experts to get the inside track and top holiday tips for you.
Join us on this journey as we begin to explore different destinations and topics each and every month.
This is not a history podcast - this is a rebel story, rebelling against accepted wisdoms and prevailing views, overturning what we thought we knew and creating new understandings, delving beneath the surface appearance of things.
This is a podcast about peelers and sheep. Sheep representing agricultural production – the form of production most obviously involving an interface with ecology. But this is not just farming heritage. The peelers, or the police, representing the violence of the state undergirding relations of power, conflict, and exploitation.
