The best podcasts for when you just need a good chuckle to send the gloomies away

Who am I?

I have been the host of Thoughts N' Shots which we would describe as Mystery Science Theater 3000 but at last call at your local dive bar. We've been riffing almost 3 years now and riffed an extensive list of movies. When not podcasting, you can catch me drumming in the chaotic hardcore band Reign of Eris, hanging with my lovely gf, or playing with my 2 cats Clovis and Persephone. I chose this subject because I myself have been on a massive mental health journey which has allowed me to be happier, get my drinking to a more controlled level, and just start becoming the best possible person I can be for me and all the people in my life. I think when you look around and see what's going on anymore, it can be draining to the mentals. I like using podcasts to escape the shitty world I see around me, go on audio adventures with the hosts and just get enveloped in what's happening in the cast.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

I use my podcast and created my podcast to give myself social interaction during the COVID pandemic and now it's been my weekly escape into a world of movies and jokes that really gives me something to look forward to every week with my favorite people.

What is my podcast playlist about?

if you just wanna get lost in adventures, need some advice, just want to turn your brain off and laugh, or escape your reality for a second.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Dungeons and Daddies

Why this podcast?

This cast has became one of my comfort shows between whatever hilarious continuity bit they choose for the intro, seeing what off the wall choice Beth May is gonna make the campaign go on a left turn, Freddy completely destroying a deep story that Anthony worked so hard on, the songs they've created for the show. There's a laundry list of reasons to listen to this hilarious D&D podcast.

2. My Brother, My Brother And Me

Why this podcast?

These 3 fine fellows have had me crying tears of laughter for years and they just have to be on the list. Come play with these 3 beautiful as they give you one of the funniest advice podcast for modren era (if you know you know). The goofs they've created have also created some of the funniest animatics I've ever seen. If you want my recommendation of a segment of their to check out, I'd definitely say MUNCH SQUAD where Justin talks about the latest and greatest fast food atrocities that have been coming out, and I've audibly caught myself laughing out loud at work from it.

3. GOONS

Why this podcast?

I couldn't leave off one of my favorite groups from YouTube. If you want some scuffed, off-the-wall, cursed levels of comedy. This is the podcast for you. TheDooo, Soup, McNasty, Blarg will guaranteed have you questioning your morals or maybe need a shower or barf bucket after some episodes but 1000% worth it. You definitely need to go listen to this my friendings or Doobrah will come for you.

4. The Adventure Zone

Why this podcast?

If you can't tell I'm a big D&D podcast nerd but in between some of the best pieces of dramatic fiction I've had enter my ears, a incredibly well-done graphic novel series, countless live shows that had me on the floor rolling of laughter. These 4 fine gents of the McElroy Brothers and their equally hilarious father Clint, you have multiple different options of adventures to join, laugh, cry, and drop your jaw too. The world building they do on this show is some of the most impressive that I've heard in a hot minute. 10/10 Taakos, big recommend.

5. The Misfits Podcast

Why this podcast?

Of course if the Goons got some love I also had to give the Misfits some love. Fitz and his crew of deviants have some actually pretty insane stories that sometimes it's hard to believe they happened. However, they deliver pretty much anything on this show in their usual scuffed as fuck attitude that I cannot stop appreciating enough. Let SwaggerSouls sultry deep voice get all the ASMR tingles that you need.
