Who am I?
My name is Mike and I'm the host of The Bright Suns Podcast! I'm just a guy from New England who's put a lot of miles into my 30-something years of life, spending quite a bit of it either in a movie theater, in front of a TV screen or computer monitor, or out and about with a camera as a former professional wedding photographer turned professional hobbyist photographer. Much of my life has been spent on the move, and because of that I've had the fortune of getting to meet a lot of people from a lot of different walks of life. That kind of exposure to perspectives has certainly had an effect on how I approach discussions with people on things as subjective and close to our souls as art can be. Star Wars has been a part of my life since literally day one. The story of how I came to start a podcast about it is in my podcast, but suffice to say a trip to Batuu (Galaxy's Edge in Walt Disney World) sparked a love of talking about Star Wars with people that actually like Star Wars. Now there's a LOT wrong with Twitter, but there's also a lot of fun, dedicated, infectiously bright and optimistic Star Wars fans on there as well who just love Star Wars and sharing that love with like-minded people. I found such a wonderful group of these people (well, they found ME) and Star Wars is about found families so I wanted to curate this list to showcase some of the wonderful people creating wonderful content and cultivating a wonderful community.
My Show
What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?
The Bright Suns Podcast is about everything in the Geekdom; i.e. the major things in pop culture that people like myself are geeking out about. Star Wars, Marvel, video games, movies, TV shows, technology! But also the show is about reframing how we have these conversations, focusing on positivity and enjoyment, and really letting that geek flag fly! Because it's far more fun to talk about the things we like instead of the things we hate.
What is my podcast playlist about?
To me, these five podcasts represent the best of my Star Wars Twitter experience, and the warmest, most welcoming group you can find on Twitter. Each of these podcasters has been hugely inspirational to me and provided encouragement and engagement during my own podcasting journey. Their shows are all very unique, offering something a little different than anyone else. As often as I can, I listen to these shows to either help me clarify my own thoughts and feelings or gain new perspectives to open my mind to ideas I could have never thought of on my own. And, above all else, these people are just wonderful human beings and I love and respect each and every one of them. And know that this list is nowhere near an exhaustive list! There are many incredible podcasts and creators to follow on Twitter!
1. The Clone Cast
Why this podcast?
Tom and Adam have created a show that is a one-to-three-hour stretch of hilarity and pure chaos. They review Star Wars shows one episode at a time, but usually have about 20-30 minutes of banter before getting into it. BUT IT'S HILARIOUS. I love these guys. Not only do they have a great show with a loyal band of Clonecastanovas, they are wonderful to interact with online and have done quite a bit to cultivate a great community. These guys have cornered the market on sound effects. Listen, you'll see what I mean.

Adam and Tom review an episode a week of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. WOW! ORIGINAL! (We are aware there is another pod named “The Clone Cast”, but they have uploaded nothing in five years and we are funnier and better human beings than whoever those guys were, so we claim this land for ourselves)

2. Dark Side Divas - A Star Wars Podcast
Why this podcast?
Dark Side Divas hardly needs any boosting from me, they're already quite popular and do very respectable numbers as it is. But Stef and Chris provide some hilarious back-and-forth commentary on all things Star Wars, and are criminally kind and supportive to folks online (provided they are kind in turn). Stef can (and will) absolutely ROAST the haters and turn it into merch for their store, which is honestly the best thing to do. I listen to their show when I'm at the gym or in the car and I've never once failed to be entertained. They are lovely.

3. Pink Milk | Talking Star Wars, Queerly!
Why this podcast?
Bryan from Pink Milk was among the first people I interacted with in Star Wars Twitter, and the Pink Milk crew has always been incredibly supportive and kind. Their podcast is a gold mine for perspectives of the galaxy far, far away through the lens of our friends in the LGBTQ+ community. Listening to them, I've been able to learn more about the issues the community faces, their perspective on things that is wildly different from my own, and simply get exposed to the community. They are a wonderful group, and I'm very glad and fortunate that they were among my first contacts when I first landed into Star Wars Twitter

5. Around the Galaxy
Why this podcast?
The first thing I noticed about Pete and ATG was that production values seemed really high. He clearly puts a lot of time and effort into his show, and routinely has some incredible guests on. Very recently, he had Debra Wilson from Jedi: Survivor on and had an incredible conversation about her role and her processes and feelings. Pete does not take The Fandom Menace's chicanery sitting down! On Twitter, he routinely calls out bad faith arguments and enlightens his followers with clarifications, truth, and a sense of ease about letting yourself enjoy things. He's one of the larger voices online, and he has always done his best to use that to make the fandom a better, healthier, more inclusive place.
