Who am I?

I am a freelance writer who was best known for his work in the mid-90s for Lucasfilm and Topps’ Star Wars Galaxy and Star Wars Insider magazines. Discovered by Steve Sansweet, I wrote content about toys and collectibles, unique fan stories, and New York area Star Wars movie premiers. I am Wookieepedia verified for my work on these publications. I am the co-host and producer of Around the Galaxy (the top Star Wars talkshow according to Feedspot) and Force Connect. Having been a Star Wars fan since 1977 and the co-host of two of the most popular Star Wars podcasts, I feel like this is my wheelhouse. I listen to hours of podcasts per week and am a producer of the SSW Network programs.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Around the Galaxy takes a deep-dive into the guests’ journey, discussing connections to the Star Wars universe while uncovering what the franchise means to them and how it drove them to where they are today. Hosts Pete Fletzer and Nick Mielke get the guest’s take on current content including movies, books and streaming shows, to get their personal "fan" perspective. Featured guests have included actors like Greg Grunberg, W Earl Brown and Debra Wilson, best-selling Star Wars authors (including Cavan Scott, Claudia Gray, Kevin J Anderson, Mark A. Altman), celebrity superfans (including Krystina Arielle, Corey Ryan Forrester, Charlie Benante, Anthony Breznican, Ash Crossan), voice actors (Dan Donohue, Marc Thompson, Christopher Sean, Sean Kenin), Oscar-winning creators and online personalities from around the fandom.

Yub Nub started in 2020 as a way for comedy writers and veterans of the TV/new media wars, Tim Barnes (The Tonight Show), Greg Iwinski (The Late Show, Last Week Tonight), and Jim Fagan (Comedy Central) to survive the pandemic and push back against a faction of Star Wars fandom in love with complaining about Star Wars. Three years later, it’s become a meeting place for Star Wars and media-loving comedy nerds to talk about all things Star Wars, film, and TV through the point of view of the people who make it, and lovers of all things far far away. In each episode Tim and Jim use Star Wars as their wayfinder through the entertainment industry with occasional pop-in guests who have included James Austin Johnson (SNL), Krystina Arielle (Star Wars The High Republic Show) and Felipe Torres Medina (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert).
