The best podcasts for Nerding Out on the '80s

Who am I?

I'm the creator and co-host of Stuck in the '80s, now in its 18th year! I also emcee trivia each year aboard The 80s Cruise. A career journalist, I love exploring the decade that made us. I'm a product of the '80s, having spent all my high school and college years in the decade. After my teenage years were spent in arcades and concert halls, I was inspired by the nostalgia of my 20-year high school reunion to create Stuck in the '80s.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Stuck in the '80s honors the music, movies and pop culture of the '80s. It features interviews with hundreds of icons of the decade who similarly are a product of the decade.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are the podcast storytellers who inspire me both as an interviewer, a geek, and an '80s fan. To me, a good podcast is basically a good story. If you tell it masterfully, you have me as a fan.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. WTF with Marc Maron Podcast

Why this podcast?

Marc is the gold standard for hosting "conversations" instead of "interviews." I keep that ideal in mind when I talk with my guests.

3. Naked Lunch

Why this podcast?

This show is one of my latest obsessions. Their pitch is so simple: Invite a celeb in for lunch and have a great conversation. Too many great talks to pick just one.

Don't you love a great lunch and conversation with an interesting friend? You know, the kind that you talk about for years to come. Phil Rosenthal, creator, and host of Netflix's "Somebody Feed Phil," already knows how to find fascinating people, foods, and cultures. While he always likes eating lunch, he's even more enthusiastic about a lunch that includes a conversation with smart people who share their stories.
