Who am I?

I love many things: Cartoons, the 80s, and Star Trek! I am the father of five kids, five cats and a dog. My pod, and the ones I listen to, are an escape from the insanity that is my life! I love to laugh, love cartoons, and Star Trek. This list is a reflection of years of listening and enjoying pods, and creating my own.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My podcast is The Saturday Morning Podcast with Christopher Jay (that’s me!!!). We all love cartoons, cereal and toys, not to mention the weekend! Give me a try and feel like a kid again. Also, it brings the weekend when you’re stuck in the middle of the week!

What is my podcast playlist about?

My podcast came from that magical Saturday when all my kids were on their electronics and I remembered back to the 80s when it was worth getting up early for cartoons. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to talk and talk about those 80s cartoons! And talk I have for almost a hundred episodes. Everything else on this list is an inspiration to me, and what I love. And I love to laugh and hear basins the scenes stories from the people who were there.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Star Trek The Next Conversation - a semi funny trashfire of a Star Trek podcast currently about TV's Deep Space Nine DS9 (or TNG)

Why this podcast?

Funny, irreverent and a ton of fun. Matt and Andy are entertainment professionals, and Star Trek fans at heart. The concept is irresistible, with Matt Mira being the expert, and Andrew Secunda going through TNG and DS9 for the first time. Too many hilarious moments to mention, every episode is a winner!

Podcast... the final frontier! "Star Trek: The Next Generation" devotee and authority Matt Mira leads Next Gen skeptic Andrew Secunda into the deepest reaches of the series episode by episode. Listen as they discuss, debate, and enjoy all the legendary show's strengths, failings, and innovations. Email us! Why this podcast?

They know their Trek! And they’re in the industry and have connections to interviews you will not hear anywhere else. Entertainment journalist and personal hero Mark A. Altman teaches a master class in interviewing. Co-hosts Daren Dochterman and Ashley Edward Miller are a great counterbalance and each have their unique perspective on Trek.

4. The Saturday Morning Podcast

Why this podcast?

SMP is me! I talk about all those great cartoons from the weekend in the 80s! There’s also talk of cereal, toys, holidays and what it takes to make a show in general. Each show is a time capsule of a Saturday Morning cartoons, exploring the origin, cast and legacy of the series. Not up mention a funny look at the pilot episode, with 40 years of hindsight and logic questions. Nitpicked with love!
