What is my podcast playlist about?

These are some of the podcasts that help me keep informed about the film and tv industries and/or the craft of screenwriting. In some ways these podcasts, plus producing my own podcast, have been my film school and it hasn't cost me a penny to attend.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Scriptnotes Podcast

Why this podcast?

I'm someone who came to screenwriting later in life. As LA based screenwriters John August and Craig Mazin don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk when it comes to representing the lives of working screenwriters in la la land. I have learned so much about craft and process from this podcast. I've listened to it from the very start - some 10 years and counting. I look forward to every Tuesday when a new episode drops and find myself repeatedly listening to some episodes such is the insight offered from the hosts or their guests.

2. The Screenwriting Life with Meg LeFauve and Lorien McKenna

Why this podcast?

Meg LeFauve & Lorien McKenna are two of the most considerate and open creative people I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. They share high highs and low lows of the screenwriting life like few podcasts do. Like Scriptnotes, the presenters are working screenwriters in LA and for someone based in London, UK, that's invaluable. They advocate the powers of the vomit draft and encourage you to not worry about getting the script right in the first instance, but get it written. They have some great guests too

Why this podcast?

Quite simply the best and most easily digestible podcast about the state of the film and TV industry. Sonny Bunch is a great journalist in his own right, and because of specialist or niche nature of the topics, he brings in a suitable expert guest for every show. Invaluable for those wanting to know more about the macro and micro picture.
