Who am I?

I’m Alfredo (he/him). I’m an Italian astrophysicist, science journalist, and science communicator under the moniker of The Astroholic. My day job is senior staff writer and space correspondent for IFLScience. The gay job that I do in my free time is being the chair (and founder) of Pride in STEM, an award-nominated charity dedicated to supporting and showcasing LGBT people in science, technology, engineering, and maths. As I mentioned, I work in science and communication, so I'm always looking for interesting conversations and ideas - and the following selection is some of my favourites.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

The Astroholic Explains is a podcast dedicated to answering weird questions about the Universe, from the near and familiar to the impossibly distant. It fits as we record it embracing both what is exciting and incredible about the cosmos without pretending that science is perfect and flawless.

What is my podcast playlist about?

I wanted to balance the various aspects of science communication in an all-encompassing way: there is the topical, the huge achievement, the weird - as well as highlight important conversations around barriers and the limits of science and tech, and how we do science & tech. An eclectic mix but hopefully with something for everyone.

The podcasts I picked and why
