The best podcasts for Entertainment Fanatics (and Foe-natics alike)

Who am I?

Been in Radio for 20 years; know my way around the following subjects: Audio Editing, Script Writing, TV/Movie/Music Trivia, Shortcuts on rural roads, best places to get Ice Cream w/o waiting in line. I'm at a point in my life where I just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. I grew up (and still live) in a small town; entertainment is pretty hard to come by...the good thing about doing your own podcast in the middle of nowhere is that your Audience is The World--small consolation for living in a town with a population of less than 300.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Using a combination of history/deep diving and the occasional episodic storytelling piece, "Telehell" covers the worst, the dumbest, the most sin-worthy of TV moments from the past 7 decades. Then, we rate them on a scale based on Dante's 9 circles of Hell. Add dry wit and cheesy jokes to the mix, and you've got something that will last throughout eternity--we hope. We've been on for 5 seasons (and counting), and we hope to do a little bit more (and hopefully with actual famous people to interview).

What is my podcast playlist about?

Nothing special, just a bunch of shows that I happen to like. They run the gamut from entertainment to news to entertaining forms of news.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. That Week In SNL (A Vintage Saturday Night Live Podcast)

Why this podcast?

They were one of my first followers when I was starting out in the Podcast world; I've also done a handful of episodes with them, and as cliché as it sounds, they're both "Two Guys you wanna have a Beer with" While discussing the nuances of all kinds of sketch comedy (not just SNL, they cover other shows too)

2. Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Why this podcast?

I've been watching K.O. since his days on ESPN's Sportscenter...as bombastic as he can be sometimes, the guy knows how to tell a good story; whether it be current events, news headlines, his "Things [he] Promised not to tell" or his James Thurber short stories. I could listen to him read the phone book.

“Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” the landmark news and commentary program that reordered the world of cable news, returns as a daily podcast. Olbermann’s daily news-driven mix will include his trademark “Special Comment” political analysis, the tongue-in-cheek “Worst Persons In The World” segment, and his timeless readings from the works of the immortal James Thurber. The man who turned SportsCenter into a cultural phenomenon will broaden the content to include a daily sports segment, a daily call for help for a suffering dog, and a remarkable series of anecdotes covering a career that stretched from covering the 1980 Olympic Miracle on Ice a month after his 21st birthday, to anchoring the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the 2009 Super Bowl pre-game show in a span of just twelve days, to rejoining ESPN as a “rookie” baseball play-by-play man at the age of 59.

3. Song Vs. Song

Why this podcast?

I've been a fan of "Todd in the Shadows" Youtube channel forever; but as much as I enjoy his dissection of so-called "Bad" music, SvS showcases the good stuff in a way that's intelligent but still worthy of a lively debate--Especially when the two songs that are looked are are ones where you feel compelled to say "DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!"

4. The Marvelists

Why this podcast?

A couple of "Local" friends of mine; they too have invited me to be on their podcast a few times; and if Anybody can dissect the world of Marvel better than so-called "experts", these guys not only manage to do that, but do so in a way that doesn't "Talk down" to the listeners.

5. Inside Conan: An Important Hollywood Podcast

Why this podcast?

As much as I Love "Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend"; my podcast is reliant on information regarding show business and the business of show. "Inside Conan" will become a showbiz glossary some day (at least until something a little more thorough comes along)
