Who am I?

I am Paul Camper, Dungeon Master for the award-nominated Death Saving Bros podcast. I have played and led multiple TTRPG systems over the past 10 years, including a 10-person D&D 5e one-shot at convention. Many of the top actual play podcasts attempt to follow the immersive storytelling and voice acting/roleplaying pioneered by certain immensely popular actual play casts, but sometimes listeners just want to tune in to a tabletop sessions with friends! My sessions focus on player inclusion, and the podcast I lead attempts to, first and foremost, recreate the feeling of playing at the table with friends. Whereas those leading podcasts use actual play as a vehicle for a grand roleplaying story, I use story as a vehicle for enjoyable actual play.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Death Saving Bros is an actual play 5e D&D podcast that recreates the feeling of being at the table with friends, just like the other podcasts on this list. Listeners tune in for the friendships, jokes, and chaos brought by the players and stick around for the story.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These actual play podcasts highlight the chaos of the typical TTRPG table while also telling a terrific story. If you're looking to feel like you're in on the jokes and a part of the campaign, these shows are for you.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Greetings Adventurers - Dungeons and Dragons 5e Actual Play

Why this podcast?

The longest continually running D&D actual play podcast, this show is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is into its second campaign. The hosts crack jokes, get sidetracked, and lead the listener on an utterly wild ride. Their podcasting awards and previous work with Wizards of the Coast attest to the high quality of the show.

4. Dice Will Roll

Why this podcast?

Self-proclaimed as the "gayest Pathfinder Podcast on the Planet," this show is a TTRPG that uses a system other than D&D and has a lot of the same adversarial friendship energy as Death Saving Bros. They have run multiple campaigns and were the 2022 Audio Verse Award winner for Best Existing Improvised Production. The players are focused on the game in the best way, where full interaction with the story generates the craziest questions and scenarios.
