Paki & Chris invite Robert Frederick to join the CIRCLE for Episode 50.
You can also listen to this Episode on all streaming/digital platforms such as iTunes/Apple podcast, Anchor, Google, Spotify and our website: TheVegasCircle.com.
Robert Frederick is the Founder & CEO of Sirqul (Intelligence of Things (IOT) Platform based in Seattle) and recently appeared in @Frontline’s Documentary “Amazon Empire: The Rise and Reign of Jeff Besos”. He is an MIT Graduate, early in social startups & acquisitions, author of 41 issued patents and the tech co-founder of Amazon Web Services (AWS) & AWS Marketplace. In 1999-2004, Robert led Amazon’s Mobile Commerce initiatives-Amazon Anywhere.
“It all starts somewhere....20 years ago today, Amazon Anywhere was released and made international news. 15 of us executed on the mission statement to "make it possible for anyone, anywhere, at any time, to be able to access Amazon services and features from any device". I joined Amazon via the acquisition of our small company from Atlanta. I had worked tirelessly to make a dream come true for mobile access and the services needed to make it happen. The team and I worked around the clock to land, get our first Palm Pilot VII, and have our server code integrated into Amazon's "online" system, enabling 1-click from the device via APIs in 30 days. Cell phones were next. This was 1999 and some internal teams thought we were crazy or just another "Jeff" project. I look back and am proud of my team and believe that the mission was solid, that it was well supported by senior management and the CEO, and a few of us had a massive impact "steering a charging retail elephant by the tail" and bringing about the start of AWS, Voice Recognition, amazon devices/MVNOs, and presence-based commerce strategies everyone knows today. Its still day 1, says the guy with Amazon patents published still in 2019...over a decade after leaving AMZN”
