Jenny Nguyen picked up a basketball right around the same time she put down her milk bottle. From an early age she was called a tomboy, loving basketball so much that it shaped her identity all the way through high school. When she was 19 years old in her first year of playing college basketball, she ruptured her ACL. Devastated by her injury, she stumbled upon a newfound passion for cooking.
After graduating from college, Nguyen enrolled at the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon. There she graduated from the expedited program while working full-time at fine dining restaurants. Today she is the founder of The Sports Bra, a sports bar in Portland focused on supporting women and women’s sports.

Command Sergeant Major Gretchen Evans served 27 years in the United States Army. She served overseas and nationwide, as well as several combat deployments. Evans served as an intelligence analyst, counterintelligence agent, military police, paratrooper, and numerous other positions. Highly decorated during her tenure, she received more than 27 awards and decorations including the Bronze Star.
She was wounded in Afghanistan which resulted in her near-total loss of hearing, traumatic brain injury, and various other health challenges. Undaunted by her injuries and the sudden end of her military career, Evans authored a book, Leading From the Front, which poignantly tells the stories of soldiers in combat and peace.
