Tigers in 20 - Ep. 96: 20-day layoff, NBA Tigers & Calvin Austin

In episode 96 of GT247's Tigers in 20, host and lead writer Christian Fowler, GT247 digital content producer Kenny Stubblefield and GT247 vet Jonah Jordan discuss the latest in Memphis football and basketball.

To begin the episode, the crew discusses the Memphis-SMU postponement, which was the Tigers' third consecutive game to be pushed back. With the game against the Mustangs off, Memphis won't play their next game until Sunday against Tulsa which is 20 days from their last game.

Fowler, Stubblefield and Jordan break down the positives and negatives of the 20-day layoff, and they also explain how difficult this will make the rest of the season. The UCF game was rescheduled, but now Memphis, SMU, Temple and the AAC have to figure out how/when to reschedule the games.

Memphis' last scheduled game against Houston is in March, so they will have a month and a half to play the remaining 17 games on schedule. The trio breaks down how and why this can be problematic moving forward.

Next, Fowler and Stubblefield talk about former Tigers James Wiseman and Precious Achiuwa. Wiseman has been a standout for the Golden State Warriors this season, and Achiuwa made his first start with the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.

Achiuwa finished his first career start with a career high in minutes (36), points (17) and rebounds (13), and he showed that he can be a viable weapon for the defending Eastern Conference Champions moving forward.

Finally, Fowler and Jordan move on to Memphis football and discuss the transfers of Obinna Eze and T.J. Carter. They give their opinions on what the transfers mean, and they also explain who they believe could step up to fill their respective roles next season.
