10 - A Very Pagan Christmas (feat. Dad!)
The Pagan Christian
12/25/20 • 55 min
a very merry pagan-christian christmas from my family to yours this season - and speaking of family, alex (the pagan christian) is joined by some family to ring in our celebrations of the incarnate God! join alex and his dad victor as they peruse where christmas comes from, personal and historical traditions, saints that punch heretics, commercialism, baby yoda, and more on this special christmas episode of the pagan christian podcast! should christians be able to celebrate festivals that had pagan roots? what's a christian to do at the height of a christmas over-run by consumerism? why does the door keep squeaking? where and how much for a baby yoda doll? is someone going to help the dogs? these questions and more are explored by the family-duo as they attempt to make it to christmas eve dinner! hey, at least prayer is still free - right? praying you all have a God-blessed day, and a very merry christmas!

09 - God and Tattoos and the Entire Story of You.
The Pagan Christian
12/21/20 • 57 min
join alex (the pagan christian) as he works through the historical and religious complexities of tattooing as a form of storytelling! for some reason or another, christians and their more decoratively inked neighbors haven't always gotten along - but alex isn't too sure that's biblical. considering how more and more christians are starting to go under the needle for some sweet-tats, it's probably long past due for a return to see what the good word actually has to say about decorating your fleshly temple. so buckle in and give this episode a listen on your way from church to the tattoo shop - or from the tattoo shop to church! hey, at least prayer is free. right? praying you all have a God-blessed day!

03 - Halloween, a good Christian holiday.
The Pagan Christian
10/26/20 • 54 min
allegedly Christian folks are in rare-form these days; coming out the woodwork to talk about why you should send your kids to a harvest festival to avoid the the perils of the "devil's day!" join Alex (the Pagan Christian) on a joy-ride through history, culture, and the theologies of allhallowtide and dia de muertos to find how a Christian might celebrate the "days of the dead," keep their soul, and maintain the one true crusade of obtaining as many reese's peanut butter cups as possible in a night. i don't wear a sugar skull mask for no reason, but if i'm very wrong - hey, at least prayer's still free. right? have a God-blessed day!

06 - "NewYorkSoul," Depression, and the Prodigal Son.
The Pagan Christian
11/06/20 • 50 min
come join alex (the pagan christian) as he explores a dark period in his life through the power of song! honestly, we're chatting today about how seeing or hearing something can help you realize that things are not the way you thought they were and aren't the way they're supposed to be. and that's a good thing! gotta know you're lost for you to start finding your way home, ammi-rite?? ...you know, i probably should have referenced that whole "wandering in the desert for 40 years" thing. oh well. at least prayer is free - right? praying you have a God-blessed day!

04 - Should Christians Vote? Breaking the idols of red elephants, blue donkeys, and golden calves.
The Pagan Christian
10/30/20 • 50 min
should Christians try to be apart of the kingdoms of man? does voting make it easier for you to trick yourself like you've served your neighbor without having to know who they are, what are their triumphs and what are their struggles? what are the politics of the Church, and why does it seem like they're asleep at the wheel? join alex (the pagan christian) as he alienates evangelicals everywhere that are excited to get their stickers this coming tuesday as he attempts to imagine a world where the Church activated their political potential in a (not so) radical leap of faith. that was a mouthful - at least prayer is free! right? hope you have a God-blessed day!

08 - A Supernatural Show, a supernatural faith.
The Pagan Christian
11/13/20 • 54 min
join alex (the pagan christian) as he overviews the television show "supernatural" on the weekly eve of it's finale. "supernatural" follows brothers sam and dean as they fight monsters of all kinds for the past fifteen years. the show's been talking about angels, demons, Lucifer, and God for a hot minute now - in a way that that provokes the Christian to think about the verses in a different way. is holy water actually a good deterrent to demons? is the angel-language of enochian and the interactions with pagan gods point us towards the book of enoch? maybe it's as simple as the brothers thankless service to the world. anyways - alex (the pagan christian) seems to think watching supernatural helps teach a thing or two about the gospel, but if not.... well hey, at least prayer is free! right? make sure to have a God-blessed day!

05 - Jesus is on the Top 40 (and the question of Christian Music)
The Pagan Christian
11/03/20 • 55 min
has anyone ever said you were less of (or not) a christian because you listen to the devil's very own "secular" music? have you ever felt left out from hearing the cool sounds of the musicians with the good hair while you're stuck singing campfire song songs? have you ever had a fever? well, join alex (the pagan christian) as he chats about three stages of encountering christian music, what christian music even means, and how to hear the gospel in the most unlikely of places. you know - like Jesus. can't promise you that that means you get to sing any old song you want, but hey - at least prayer is free. right? have a God-blessed day!

02 - The Christian Story.
The Pagan Christian
10/22/20 • 48 min
it seems like Christians and non-Christians alike don't always grasp the full story of Christianity. it'll be hard to give a "Christian" cultural commentary of halloween, metal music, and gilmore girls if we don't start with the Christian story so.... here we are! in an attempt to not put the cart before the horse, listen as i paint in (very) broad strokes a few thousand years of history and philosophy that have been debated for just as long: don't 'at' me. well actually... you can totally 'at' me - i'm not perfect. fortunately, prayer is still free. have a God-blessed day!

11/10/20 • 53 min
join alex (the pagan christian) as he works through the reactions to the american election. some are lamenting the loss as deserving increased prayer as they find their hope in an "eternal kingdom" - so....way to stick the landing! others seem to be celebrating with an energy that has (and is) sorely missing in the church: Christ looks forward to your support. anyways, the best way to feel towards the election is not at all - so buckle in for an as we discuss the topic of the day (or week*). hey, at least prayer is free. right? praying you have a God-blessed day!

01 - A Pagan Christian Beginning.
The Pagan Christian
10/19/20 • 43 min
what is a pagan christian and why do we need it now? it's a new beginning for alex, so strap in for some christian cultural commentary that attempts to be both "an engagement with the world" and also "not terrible" by answering the relatively simple question of "What would Jesus do/think/say to 'x' or 'y' subject?" no promises if it'll be any good - but hey, at least prayer is still free!
make sure to comment what topics, people, or perspectives you want explored for future episodes and have a God-blessed day!
