The Open Mic: The Pros and Cons of AI for Writers
The Open Mic: Writers in Their Own Words
07/31/23 • 46 min
Today is a special show in that rather than focusing on a specific guest and their work, we’re going to talk about a trend – the fast growing use of AI tools like ChatGPT in writing. Now for some folks, this is absolute heresy while for others it is simply embracing new tools to enhance our own natural creativity. There are definitely small armies on each side of the issue, so today I have asked a few previous guests of the show – both of whom use ChatGPT in some form or another – to come on and share their thoughts about these tools and how they do and do not use them. So please welcome authors Elisa Lorello and Neil Plakcy back to the Open Mic.

The Open Mic: Writers in Their Own Words with Jim L'Etoile
The Open Mic: Writers in Their Own Words
12/20/23 • 55 min
My guest today is an old friend of the show, who is making I believe this third appearance here. There’s a definite reason for this, mainly that Jim L’Etoile just keeps writing really good crime thrillers! And the fact he’s a really good guy who is always willing to share insights with a fellow writer is a big part of it too. He’s here today to talk about his newest book, Face of Greed, which is the first in a new series featuring Detective Emily Hunter and her partner, Javier Medina.

The Open Mic: Writers in Their Own Words with J.T. Siemens
The Open Mic: Writers in Their Own Words
07/09/24 • 48 min
My guest today came to me via a recommendation from another writer and friend of the show, A.J. Devlin. We were talking at Left Coast Crime in March and he said he had a friend with a new book coming out that I really should know about. He even had a signed copy for me! I know A.J. is a great writer, so I of course said I would check it out. I am so glad I did. That book, CALL OF THE VOID by J.T. Siemens is one of the best crime fiction novels I’ve read in years – compelling at every turn, very gripping, fast-paced and true edge of your seat entertainment. SO I’m very happy today to have J.T. Siemens here with me to talk about that book and his other work and all things writing.
