He made over 60 documentaries, including Vietnam: The Quiet Mutiny, Year Zero: The Silent Death of Cambodia, The Secret Country: The First Australians Fight Back, The War You Don't See, The Coming War on China. He appeared as a contributor on BBC Television Australia, BBC Radio, BBC World Service, London Broadcasting, ABC Television, ABC Radio Australia, among others, and his writing appeared at The Guardian, The Independent, New Statesman, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation: New York, The Age: Melbourne, The Sydney Morning Herald and more. In addition to his work as a journalist, Arikat is an adjunct professor at the American University. He served as the United Nations Chief Spokesman in Iraq from 2005-2010. But first, Palestinian Youth Movement organizer Lea Kayali talks about the "Mask Off Maersk" campaign which seeks to cut ties with one of the world’s largest shipping and logistics companies that directly ships weapons and weapons components that facilitate Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people. Thomas Frank is an American political analyst, historian, and journalist. He co-founded and edited The Baffler magazine and is the author of the books "What's the Matter with Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Heart of America," "Listen, Liberal: Or, What Ever Happened to the Party of the People?", "The People, No: A Brief History of Anti-Populism," among others. From 2008 to 2010 he wrote "The Tilting Yard", a column in The Wall Street Journal. Matthew Karp is an Associate Professor of History at Princeton University and the author of "This Vast Southern Empire: Slaveholders at the Helm of American Foreign Policy," (Harvard University Press). Karp is now at work on two books, both under contract with Farrar, Straus, & Giroux."Millions of Abolitionists: The Republican Party and the Political War on Slavery," is about the emergence of American antislavery mass politics. His other book is a meditation on the politics of U.S. history, and explores the ways that narratives of the American experience both serve and shape different ideological ends — in the nineteenth century, the twentieth century, and today. Karp is a contributing editor for Jacobin. His work has also appeared in The Nation, The Boston Review, and The London Review of Books. Lea Kayali is an organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), a transnational, independent, grassroots movement of young Palestinians and Arabs in diaspora. In her organizing, she has supported the Evict Elbit campaign which ousted the weapons manufacturer from their innovation hub in Massachusetts, and was involved in the Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine encampment. Scholar Assal Rad and Veterans for Peace members Matt Hoh and Barry Riesch react to Iran's retaliatory strike on Israel, Israel's continued genocidal attack on Gaza and predict what's next. Matt and Barry also discuss the international Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) which will sail in mid April with multiple vessels, carrying 5500 tons of humanitarian aid and hundreds of international human rights observers to challenge the ongoing illegal Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip. Dr. Assal Rad is a scholar of Middle East history. She works on research and writing related to U.S. foreign policy issues, the Middle East, and contemporary Iran. Her writing can be seen in Newsweek, The National Interest, The Independent, Foreign Policy and more, and she has appeared as a commentator on BBC World, Al Jazeera, CNN, and NPR. She completed a PhD in History from the University of California, Irvine in 2018 and is the author of The State of Resistance: Politics, Culture, and Identity in Modern Iran (Cambridge University Press, 2022). Engaging in this work, he has participated in delegations to Vietnam, South Korea, Cuba, and Mexico. As an environmental activist, he focuses on how the military is contributing to climate change.
