The Freenoter - The Freenoter Trailer Blooper Reel
play

11/11/19 • 2 min

It may have taken Tom and Tamsen between 100 and 200 takes to record their first 2-minute trailer for The Freenoter. Luckily, some of their greatest "misses" are captured here, in the inaugural Freenoter Blooper Reel. You'll hear some cringeworthy singing, meet Phlegmmy, and hear Tamsen call Tom a giant LIAR.

The Freenoter - The Problem of The Problem (AKA The Duckbunny)
play

01/14/20 • 33 min

On this week's episode of The Freenoter, Tom and Tamsen dissect the problem of...the problem. As speakers, we hope to solve a problem for our audience--but often, their version of the problem and our version of the problem are different! This episode will teach you to reframe, adapt, and deliver true value. Show notes: Tamsen's post on reframing the problem: https://tamsenwebster.com/what-is-your-problem-or-rather-what-is-theirs/ The "duckbunny": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit%E2%80%93duck_illusion Jay Baer's speaking website: https://www.jaybaer.com/ Convince and Convert: https://www.convinceandconvert.com/ Jay's great Hug Your Haters keynote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD0QsI8sajw A history of the Sazerac: http://www.sazerac.com/cocktail.aspx Our Sazerac: Pour 1 tsp simple syrup into a glass. Add 4 dashes of Peychaud's bitters and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add 2 oz. rye (we used Templeton). Fill glass with ice and stir a few times. In another (cold) glass, add a teaspoon of absinthe (you could substitute Pernod here--we used Kübler Verte Suisse, which could take the chrome off a bumper.) Swirl to coat the inside of the glass completely; dump out the remaining liquid. Strain the cocktail from glass one into glass two. Add a lemon twist. Enjoy responsibly--this one's potent!

We also spotlight a speaker who always customizes for her audience, and we ring in the holidays with the most festive of beverages, the Champagne Cocktail. Note: The Freenoter is taking a holiday break! Look for our next episode on January 7th. Soak cube in Angostura bitters. Fill flute with champagne/prosecco. Garnish with a citrus twist. For an extra kick, add an ounce of cognac. Speak with affected Upper East Side accent. Flare pinky out while holding glass. Look down on those consuming "punch" around you. Pretend you read Noam Chomsky. Leave party early.
