“IN CASE YOU’VE BEEN SLEEPING UNDER A ROCK, Colorado upset the world this past Saturday by beating #17 TCU 45-42.
There is no doubt, Coach Prime Time proved himself this Saturday in his first game as Colorado’s Head Coach and at Jackson State but are his controversial recruiting methods, team management and larger than life personality good for college football? We cover this and more on today’s episode! Let’s Do It
Welcome back to the Fit Fat Dad Podcast where it’s two dads who are kinda fit, kinda fat talking all things Faith, Family and Fitness... and let’s go ahead and add Football!
So here’s my hot take, Deion Sanders is Great for COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
But the HATERS will tell you he is :
· Egotistical and Self-promoting
· His actions conflict with his belief in Jesus Christ
· His recruiting methods and borderline illegal
· He’s not a real coach but a celebrity on the sidelines.
Let’s Address These:
· Egotistical and Self-promoting
o “Prime”, “Coach Prime”
o Set the theme of the day every day. Prays over it.
o Would his network remain close, if he only cared about himself?
o Would the #1 overall recruit in Travis Hunter choose an FCS HBCU and then turn down 1.5mil from multiple Power 5 collectives?
o So what is it? I’m going to claim it... the man reflects God. He has the Holy Spirit in him and it radiates from him.
His actions conflict with his belief in Jesus Christ
o (Haters) His arrogance and pride are a direct conflict of who Jesus was and is.
o He uses “Prime” as his platform because he’s learned that’s what make people listen. I truly believe that’s not his heart, but he uses it as a hook to share the Gospel.
§ Has “JC” on his coaches sleeve.
§ Sharing JC with these young men who have likely been exposed to bad upbringings, never had a father figure, maybe never had a chance.
§ He’s working the harvest, baby....
His recruiting methods are borderline illegal
o Leveraging Peer Network, Celebrity Network and NFL network to influence recruits to join his programs.
o Forced nearly 80 kids into the transfer portal and pulled away from other teams
§ Winning Mentality (kids have to know how to win).
§ Change the Culture, have to have buy in.. remove the doubters.
Saban did the same thing.
He’s not a real coach but a celebrity on the sidelines.
He already disproved this and built a great staff around him!
Notes on Colorado:
· Went 1-11 last season.
· Shedeur Sanders threw for 510, Single Game Record.
· 4 different receivers over 100 yards
· Travis Hunter played 120+ snaps, over 100 yards receiving and a critical interception.
o It’s too early to tell, but may have just launched himself into the Heisman conversation.
But how did we get here?
-On December 3, 2022 was announced Colorado’s New Head FB Coach
-73 players entered the transfer portal or were asked to leave
-Only twenty players remained from the previous 1-11 team
