In this episode we speak to a mother of two who has depression, CPTSD, ADHD and suspected Autism. Her recent diagnoses with ADHD allowed her to connect the dots to a side of her she had been trying to understand for most of her life. Through a troubled childhood, bullying, and difficulty at school she had a psychotic break at 19 which meant she was in and out of mental hospitals for a number of years. Determined to battle her mental illnesses she continued following her passion into the world of classical music and photography. Now at 41 she talks to The Black Spectrum about her childhood, her kids and separation, her recent diagnoses, her supportive partner and how she managed to find herself in the midst of all the chaos. In this episode, due to the constant conversations I’ve had with many women online during ADHD Awareness Month I decided to dedicate this podcast to my journey with ADHD.

It’s very personal but an interesting eye opener to my struggles from a child to an adult and how I became aware of my condition and how being medicated helped me see the forest through the trees.

In this episode I talk about why there has been a big gap between episodes 3 and 4. Almost 17 months. A lot has happened, a breakup, mourning , burnout, turning 40. But I also changed lives, ran an ADHD workshop ( Black Girls Camping), mentored some lovely ladies, got voted Best Anxiety Podcast of 2021 (Best British Startups), published a planner for neurodiverse people (Wilder Black - on Amazon) and won an award for neurodivergent woman of 2022, (Women Beyond the Box) all through this podcast.
