UN torture prevention body suspends visit to Australia
Australia is 'an international embarrassment', that's the verdict of a human rights group after a delegation from the UN were prevented from inspecting prisons and detention facilities in NSW. The team from the UN's subcommittee on Prevention of Torture say they suspended their trip after experiencing a lack of cooperation from some facilities, in breach of the international treaty signed by Australia.
