Hunter Lowry interviews Julia Albert, who played "Marie" and "Nurse Kayla" in "Purgatory, Missouri" as well as various carnies and pinbots. Julia's portrayal of "Marie" in Episode 2 would so bone-chilling we had to take a moment to compose ourselves. One take - all terror.

Nathan Smythe interviewed by Hunter Lowry
Purgatory, Missouri
05/20/25 • 7 min
Hunter Lowry interviews Nathan Smythe, who played several roles in "Purgatory, Missouri" including various carnies, pinbots and The Void. Nathan is a man of a trillion voices. When he stepped up to the mic during the audition, I said “Go over the top on this.” That was the scene at the end of Episode 4 when Thirty Eight encounters his first Pinbot. When his cold read was finished, Richard, Maureen, Allyson and I looked at each other like a hurricane just blew back our hair. Recording the scene in the studio with Dave Foley, he delivered again. Hunter was wiping back tears. Along with his alter ego of "DJ Nate" spinning records around town, he has voiced numerous commercials, video games and anime. You have heard him in White Castle commercials, Japanese anime TV shows, gamers know him from his work on the English version of “Fighting Spirit”, “Victorious Boxers: Revolution”, and many, many more.
