Heads up! This episode starts and ends with our discussion with Timmy Williams, so don't worry, you didn't miss anything when you didn't hear our normal intro and outro. Having Timmy on as a guest has been germinating for months, as we originally planned to have him join us back in June. But, we finally got things in order and had a wonderful conversation about everything from The Whitest Kids U Know, Music, Life, and of course George Romero's 1981 love letter; Knightriders.

This week, we're talking about the late 1900s classic from writer/director Tom Tykwer, Run Lola Run. Our good friend, Alec Kubas-Meyer of The Week I Review is with us to discuss this stylistic German film that took the world by storm upon its release. Overdue Rentals is thrilled to have Kevin Lewis drop in this week to discuss both his recent Nic Cage starring film, Willy's Wonderland, as well as the classic 1998 noir masterpiece, Dark City. This week, we are joined by Jon Amiel; the director of Matthew's favorite film of all time...The Singing Detective (1986). This utter masterpiece penned by the brilliant Dennis Potter, only aired in the US, once! Jon took some time to discuss with us his relationship to the project and Dennis Potter, all the ins-and-outs of creating such a sprawling work of art, and all those special little details that went into the casting and production of a film that too many people still need to see.

Note: When you ultimately go to look up information on this film, make sure you are not looking at the 2003 re-make starring Robert Downey Jr. Make sure you are looking at the film from 1986, starring Michael Gambon.

You may not see George Huang's name officially credited for as many projects he has his hands in. And while his new film, Weekend in Taipei is a slice of East Asian action pleasure, George's first film was a slice of life about the trials and tribulations of working in Hollywood. Swimming With Sharks is a sharp witted, comically dark tale from the early 90s that spoke volumes about the industry then, but probably echoes heavier today. It was a pleasure talking to George about these two films as well as all the little extra morsels he sent our way.
