Episode 19: The Dangers of Synthetic Fragrances for your Families' Health
Natural Super Kids Podcast
05/02/21 • 20 min
In this episode, we are talking about synthetic fragrances and perfumes - where they're found and why you want to think about avoiding them within your house, especially when it comes to your kids' exposure to them.
As what we've talked about in Episode 4, reducing kids' exposure to toxins and chemicals is one of the 4 Pillars of Healthy & Happy Kids. This episode is also a sequel of what we've discussed in Episode 17, when I talked to Tammy from Building Biology Mama about some of the hazards, chemicals, and toxins that are found within the home - it's such a diverse topic to cover!
I share some of my experiences with this and delve deeper into:
- Which products contain these chemicals and toxins and how to avoid them
- The health hazards involved and what they do to our bodies
- The difference between unscented versus fragrance-free, alternative products to use and more!

Episode 106: Pyrroles Disorder with Ross Walter
Natural Super Kids Podcast
02/11/23 • 37 min
In this podcast episode, we are chatting about quite a complex disorder called Pyrrole Disorder. It is a condition that isn't that well-known in mainstream medicine, but we are seeing more and more of it in clinical practice. Pyrrole disorder is an imbalance in the body that affects the synthesis of haemoglobin and causes the body to overproduce a substance called HPL. HPL goes on to deplete the body of crucial nutrients, primarily zinc, B6, and magnesium. We often see Pyrrole Disorder linked to conditions such as anxiety, OCD, ADHD and many mental health conditions.
For this episode, I am joined by naturopath, nutritionist, and herbalist Ross Walter, who specialises in complex cases and is passionate about helping people with their health through nutrition, lifestyle advice, and the use of holistic modalities, and education.
In this episode, Ross and I dive deeper into pyrrole disorder and we discuss:
- More about pyrrole disorder and its causes;
- What happens to the body of someone with Pyrrole Disorder;
- We discuss the symptoms and range of conditions associated with pyrrole disorder and what to look out for;
- How to test for pyrrole disorder, and what the tests can tell us;
- What the key treatment considerations are for pyrrole disorder;
- Plus much more.

Episode 42: Tummy Aches in Children - Causes and Natural Solutions
Natural Super Kids Podcast
10/09/21 • 27 min
Tummy aches are a frequent complaint of children and they are one of the most common reasons parents take their kids to the doctor or naturopath. Tummy aches can be a bit confusing to figure out when it comes to kids, as kids often complain of tummy aches when they're generally feeling unwell, or anxious, and nervous or if they're feeling a bit nauseous. It can be broad, and difficult for a kid to express exactly what is going on.
In this podcast episode, I discuss the common causes of tummy aches in kids, including constipation, food sensitivities, coeliac disease, and much more..
In this episode I delve into why it's important to do some detective work when your kid has regular tummy aches and to look into things such as:
> Other symptoms they may be presenting with
> Their daily bowel habits
> What's going on with their diet and appetite
> Your family health history
I also talk about what you can do as a parent to get on top of your child's tummy aches, including:
> Why it is important and helpful to keep a diet diary
> Two specific things we focus on when it comes to our child's diet
> The food intolerances and sensitivities to consider
> Why it's important to focus on building up your child's gut health if they are having regular tummy aches.
Gut health is the foundation of our kid's wellbeing and if we focus on gut health we can see improvements in our kid's immunity, allergies, eczema, asthma, mood and behaviour, tummy troubles and fussy eating and so much more.

Episode 135: Uncovering the cause of your kids tummy troubles
Natural Super Kids Podcast
09/30/23 • 28 min
We are starting a new gut health podcast series this week, which is my favourite topic to share with you all. Over the next four weeks, we will be diving into uncovering the cause of your kid's digestive symptoms or tummy troubles.
As an experienced naturopath, I am here to help you unravel the root cause of gut issues rather than simply treating the symptoms. We will start this episode by discussing the contrast between the Western Medical approach and the naturopathic approach when it comes to digestive issues.
We will then move on to discussing the following:
- Examining some specific digestive ailments such as constipation, diarrhea, reflux/GERD, abdominal cramping, and gastrointestinal infections that are common in children;
- We'll discuss the underlying causes of these digestive issues;
- The diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors that affect your child's gut microbiome;
- The role of food sensitivities and weakened immune systems in recurrent infections.
I'm excited for you to dive into this episode and explore the underlying causes of your kids' tummy troubles and the natural ways you can treat them. And, remember, this is just the beginning of our gut health series - so stay tuned for more educational episodes.
