Reputable, community minded financial services and tools are a prerequisite for a healthy local economy. They also play a vital role in empowering Native people with skills and resources to manage money while making informed financial decisions. But not every Native community has a bank where people can open a savings account, an ATM to make a deposit or withdraw cash, or a financial institution that offers home loans, credit cards, and other types of consumer credit. We talk about the importance of financial services and technology that meet the needs of tribal citizens and what some tribes and native led organizations are doing to bridge the gap.

Friday, May 27, 2022 Elder competition and fitness at the National Senior Games
This year’s National Senior Games just wrapped up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The games have a sizeable turnout of Native elders that compete in over 20 different events ranging from shuffleboard to track and field. For nearly 35 years the games aim at promoting athletics as well as health and wellness for elders. We talk with some of those that were involved in the games and get a glimpse of what it was like on the scene.
