Kacey Musgraves just turned 33, went public with her new relationship, and announced a new project. Her 5th album "star-crossed" will be released 9/10, with an accompanying film on Paramount+. It will reflect her divorce, and previews sound like a departure from her previous country songs. I discuss her biography, 4 successful albums, and how she's promoting her new record.

Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

I missed doing my college radio show, and working in the industry. Now I get to have fun choosing my content and learn along with the listeners about the music I like hearing!

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

I hope listeners get enthusiastic about the topics i cover, and enjoy the songs I’m mentioning.

Which episode should someone start with?

I’d start with Episode 100. A lot of time has passed since I started in 2019, and I became more comfortable formatting the show. If you want to hear more recent content, you can start back a year ago: Episode 170.

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

I like creating playlists and pretending to announce the award show nominees like presenters.

Which episode are you most proud of?

I’m proud of the tribute episode I recently did for Quincy Jones: #265. It’s the longest playlist I made of 50 songs that he and I admire of his work.

What is your vision for your show?

I want to inform people about music I specifically like: modern and personal preference. It continues to be a competitive art and like drawing to attention to those who deserve the recognition.

What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?

Booked on Rock.

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

I used to read news stories on my college radio show, and wanted to choose a similar word. I found “notes” in a thesaurus and combined the double meaning of a “music note”; the actual chord and keeping track of it.
