Me After You - Identity: Who Am I, Now I’m A Mum?
play

07/21/20 • 33 min

No matter how it happens, motherhood changes you forever.
Me After You is the show that asks the question: So, what now?

Each episode, host Laura Byrne guides some very different women through their very different stories of life after birth. In this first episode, we’re talking Identity, and you’ll hear from women like Alex Nation, who got pregnant at 18 and wrestled with being a kid with a baby, Narelda Jacobs, who had a shotgun wedding before coming out as gay to her very conservative family and a blogging mum with a huge following who never thought she wanted to become a mother.

And all of them have struggled with the same thing - who the hell am I, now that I’m a mum?

Its been a while since we checked with you here at Me After You.

Life can get hectic—between chores, work, and managing the mental load, it's easy for connection with your partner to slip down the priority list. Before you know it, you might find yourselves in the "roommate phase."

On a recent episode of our parenting podcast This Glorious Mess we explored the telltale signs of the roommate phase and shared tips on how to reconnect. We also had a dad, bring his own perspective on navigating the roommate dynamic in relationships.

And to wrap things up, we have a song that might just hit you right in the feels.

You can read Bek Day's Mamamia article 'I coach married parents through the "roommate phase". Here's the 2 day experiment I swear by.'

Like what you heard? You can listen to more of This Glorious Mess wherever you get your podcasts.

Me After You - Me After Two: Laura Byrne's Very Busy Year
play

12/01/21 • 41 min

If you're expecting, a new mum, or wrangling a toddler, we have all the best resources for new parents in our free newsletter here.

Going from one to two, you think it's going to be easy, right?

But then it happens and it's not at all what you anticipated.

No one tells you that each pregnancy, each birth and each kid is going to be different.

The second time around for Laura Byrne was a completely different ball game. Laura learnt that Marlie-Mae was an 'easy baby', pregnancy and postpartum was a whole lot harder and that adding another kid isn't double the work, it's triple.

Holly Wainwright sits down with Laura for a very honest conversation about her very busy year, going from one to two.
