在全球的水族館裡,你找不到大白鯊,但卻能看到鯨鯊。在日本的一家水族館裡,一隻展出的大白鯊在抵達後三天內就死了。只有加州的蒙特雷灣水族館成功地展示了六隻大白鯊。這些鯊魚是靠不停地游動來呼吸的,一旦被捕捉,就會變得虛弱。蒙特雷灣水族館在將鯊魚從海洋圈地運到水族館時,使用了特製的水槽和生命維持系統。但由於這些鯊魚習慣於在開放的海洋中快速游動,它們在水槽裡常常會撞到牆壁。自2011年以後,該水族館就沒有再嘗試展示大白鯊了。
