Imagination Weaver - Winnie-the-Pooh: Chapter 3 Pooh and Piglet Hunt

In Which Pooh and Piglet Go Hunting and Nearly Catch a Woozle.

Here we get to know Piglet a bit better. His grandfather had two names in case he lost one. How many names do you have? Are you named after someone you know or someone in your family? Ask your parent to tell you the story behind your name.

Piglet joins Pooh as Pooh begins tracking something. Tracking is when you look for signs of an animal or person walking on the ground - its fun to try to figure out what critters may be going through your yard. The best time to track is after a snow fall. Then you might be able to see paw marks of rabbits, squirrels, or little tiny birds or mice. What tracks have you seen? See if you can follow the tracks to see where the critter started from, where it was going and what it was doing. For more information and resources on tracking visit Backwoods Mama: The Ultimate Guide to Wildlife Tracking with Kids.

In this story, Pooh and Piglet are tracking Woozles. A Woozle is a made-up animal. Using your imagination, can you draw what a Woozle might look like if you saw one? Would it be fierce or friendly? What do you suppose it eats? What does its house look like? Does it sleep in the daytime or night time? What does it like to do for fun? Write a little story about a Woozle who is followed by a little stuffed bear and a smallish piglet. What does the Woozle do? Is it scared or curious? Does it want to be friends or does it want to be left alone? I'd love to see your drawings and your Woozle stories. You can send them to
[email protected] and if you give me permission, I'll share your drawings and stories with my audience!
