Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

During the COVID-19 lockdowns in Australia, my employer (IYKYK) tasked me with writing presentations that I could deliver about Australian military history once the lockdowns ended. However, once the lockdowns ended Australia still had capacity caps which prevented public talks, and since I already had a number of scrips written, I decided to record them and put them online as it more or less is an extension of what I do for employment.

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

I hope they gain an understanding of Australia's military History, not just the fact that Australia has a military and has been involved in every major conflict for the past two centuries, but the reasons why so many Australians have chosen to don the uniform of their country of birth or choice since then.

Which episode should someone start with?

Honestly as each episode is about an individual person and aren't in chronological order the best would be to pick a date that matters to the listener, but the Ralph Honner are by far the most popular episodes

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

Honestly the Vivian Bullwinkel Episode, as well as the Percy Stafford special episode

What is your vision for your show?

Percy Stafford, Bull Allen, Len Siffleet,

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

It came from the focus of the first episode, and I realised very quickly that the service personnel that I wanted to cover weren't the once who sought out glory, but where those who signed up because they believed it was the thing they had to do and if they were asked they would say. "I was Only Doing My Job"
