Here's Why: Beyond the Walls

Pioneer Drive Baptist Church Student Ministry

Welcome to the Here's Why Podcast, hosted by Austin Seekins and Zan Gaddam at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Every Sunday, our hosts will answer challenging questions asked by students about their everyday walk with Christ. We hope this podcast is an avenue for our students and students beyond to listen, to learn something new, and to be reminded that that their faith in Jesus is walked alongside a community that loves them, sees them, and values them. Our God is a big God, and while many of us may no longer fall into the category of “student,” the Father still has much to teach us. This podcast reminds us that we are all still students of the kingdom, disciples to one another, and servants to our great God! Zan and Austin co-host Taylor Cruse, the College Minister at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, to talk about God’s Will and Plan for us. He himself had to learn through experiences in life about God’s plan and will. He helps us answer questions such as, Why do we need to follow God’s plan for us in everything that we do? If it’s God’s plan, why is it so challenging and difficult at times to follow it? Is it because I am forcing my plan instead of surrendering to God’s plan? My Plan vs. God’s plan? Is there such a thing as General God’s will and an individual-specific plan for us? How do I know it’s God’s plan? How do I follow it? It is very clear that men and women of all age groups ask these questions at different seasons of their lives. It is a challenging topic that we wish someone helped us wrap our brain around. Wait, did God already break it down? Feel free to contact us with further questions and concerns that you might have by emailing to [email protected] .

This episode is the second part of a discussion that started last week in “Why We Worship.” In this episode, Zan and Austin host Griffin Jones and Kenna Hall as they dive head-first into the topic of Worship. What is worship? Why do we do it? Isn’t worship just singing songs? How do I discern true worship? Also in this episode, we focus on what it means to worship in the hard times. We wrestle with these questions and more in this second part of a two-part series over what it means to worship.

In this episode, Zan and Austin host Nathan Adams, Men's and Mission's minister at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church to talk about challenge. Why do we go through challenges and how do we respond to them? If our God is a good and awesome God, why would he allow us to face challenges? Is challenge a part of and vital to the Christian faith? We would like to think that when we become Christians that the challenges we face would stop. We would hope to believe that our worries, anxieties, and ailments physical and mental, would fade away. However, it seems that when we do take that first step into the Christian life, these things do not go away. Oftentimes, being a Christian may even amplify these things! These are hard things to wrestle with and we hope to bring clarity to these questions and more through this conversation and exploration of challenge.

In this episode of Here's Why: Beyond The Walls, Austin, Zan, and their guest host , Allison Westman, address the topic of prayer. “Why do we pray, and how do we do so effectively?” Prayer is something extremely easy to do, yet we have a hard time intentionally doing it. How do we make prayer something more than just praying every now and again? Such as before a meal or after a Sunday school lesson? What does it mean to pray effectively? How do we go about praying constantly? We explore these questions and more in this episode of Here’s Why: Beyond the Walls.

In this episode of Here's Why: Beyond The Walls , Austin, Zan, and their guest host , Blayre O’Donald, answer the question of Jesus, “Why is Jesus the Only Way to Salvation?”. In a world of individualism and personal spirituality, everyone believes that they know the “way” to salvation. When Jesus says that he is the way the truth and the life, and there is no way to the father except through him, Jesus is saying that he is the only way. We cannot do this thing we call life on our own. We need the guidance of Jesus and the hope that we find in him to point us in the right direction. From conversations over whether Jesus was funny to individual testimonies, this episode explores the journey we all take to understand God.
