Breakage or New Growth
Family Abide: A Faith, Family, and Finance Podcast
04/19/22 • 68 min
It is not always clear what season you are in. We work so hard trying to figure out if we are dealing with breakage or new growth. Sometimes the only difference is perspective. Let's work on building perspective. This episode explores the intersections of ownership versus consumerism while developing concepts of self-worth in the purist of excellence.
Today's episode includes two dynamic women both personally and professionally. Both of these ladies were selected to be the God Mothers of our children, because of how they embrace life.
The God Mother of our first Daughter is Debra Bazile and she runs a lifestyle brand that focuses on the values of empowering women through the exploration of natural hair and how it intersects with her life as a single woman in Miami. You can connect with her on social on Instagram at talkcurlytome or on her website at talkcurlytome.com.
Keila Kirkpatrick is the Godmother of our second child, and has a zest for travel and trying new experiences from skydiving out of a plane to traveling to exciting international or local venues. You can find more about her trips online on Instagram at busyontheweekends.
These two women help me explore their childhood experiences with finances. As we dive into both positive and negative experiences with money, and the tips they would share with young women today or their younger selves. Through their productive battle, we find a path to reach abundance beyond insecurities debts, and entanglements.

The Yard-Driven or Depleted
Family Abide: A Faith, Family, and Finance Podcast
05/31/22 • 56 min
The Yard can be defined as the main quad of open space located on the Campus of Howard University. However, the Yards' definition can not be limited to a location on a map, because it is so much more. The Yard is a marketplace of ideas that becomes a spiritual place embedded within our souls that shapes our thoughts, ideas, and actions as we mature into adulthood. Family Abides' version of the yard seeks to cultivate a similar environment where a Husband and Wife discuss Faith, Family, and Finance and the intersectionality of all three.
On this platform, we will discuss how our values shape our interaction with the culture. Give you insight into our productive struggle of melding two different upbringing into one cohesive unit for our children, and try not to tap dance around current topics that impact our household. These conversations are had with @charitys.notes and @familyabide and you can follow them on all your major social media networks to get more detail.
The topic for today's Episode is Driven or Depleted and how to navigate one's expectations versus actual experiences, especially with Money, Marriage, and Motherhood.

Content Creator or Small Business Owner
Family Abide: A Faith, Family, and Finance Podcast
09/27/22 • 23 min
Content Creator or Small business owner. This episode was done live at Fincon so you might have a little background noise, but it should be audible. Today, we talk with Glenn James from my millennial money who created a 7-figure podcast by prioritizing himself as a small business owner first and content creator second. During the course of the conversation, he discusses some of the strategies that he used to grow his business and the importance of finding a need in the market and then fully committing yourself to addressing that need. He also talks about the benefits of steady organic growth despite the fact that many content creators often search for viral hits. We finish off the discussion with the power of generosity and notes that you will never be worst off for having a generous spirit.

Sow Your Grind
Family Abide: A Faith, Family, and Finance Podcast
02/28/22 • 19 min
Episode 1 is an introduction to Family ABiDE Podcast. It includes a conversation with my daughter about the purpose of Sow Your Grind. The goal is to provide them with a wealth mindset early and have them understand the value of ideas compared to money. When you are talking to a 4 & 2-year-old you never know what they are going to say. But that's the beauty of talking to them. I am forced to be clear, and I can’t be overly complicated. If I am too complicated they will let me know. I’m always surprised about what kids pick up and what they don’t. However, as a Father, I need to be more intentional about providing them the tools to be successful in faith, family and finance. Investing is more than Money.
