Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond

Post-Fun Podcasts

This long-form narrative improv podcast follows the continuing adventures of the Barone Boys: Lynbrook, New York's most dedicated public servants and the hosts of Long Island's favorite TV rewatch podcast, "Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond." Each week, they try their best to recap each episode of the classic sitcom, but with all of the twists and turns that come their way, only one thing is certain – it's not really about the show.

In an extreme return to form, the Barone Boys finally notice that something hasn't been quite right with Alex since (our) episode 1.12, and call in some supernatural help from Theresa Caputo, the Long Island Medium. After taking care of paranormal business, Theresa asks our dear friend Valerie Blain (they have the same secretary!) to return to the Barone Zone to help the hosts break down Season 1, Episode 19 of Everybody Loves Raymond. As they go scene by scene through "The Dog," they talk quite a bit about Tonya Harding, remind Mike about Lynbrook's Father Joe communing from half court, and put another notch on the things-cost-$2000 counter. Plus, Val steps in as our Religion Guy, Adam tells us about his own personal Patience Cleveland, Alex finally gets a chance to talk Titleist, and Mike breaks down Art Shamsky (again).

Episode talk starts at 20:30.

If your faith is strong enough, we encourage you to send in a hot take for Judge Debra or a precious Raymembrance to us on Instagram, on Facebook, on Reddit, or to [email protected], and check out this week's sponsor, Animaker at postfun.info/ads!

1.18 Recovering Pessimist (w/ ELR's Steve Skrovan)

Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond

play

08/31/22 • 89 min

Everybody Loves Raymond writer/producer Steve Skrovan graciously talks to the Barone Boys about his time on the show and the story behind "Recovering Pessimist," as well as some stories about the writing process, working with Larry David on Seinfeld, and having athletes as guest stars. Wow!

After that, the friends try to remain accessible to any new listeners by doing a thoroughly normal scene by scene breakdown of Season 1, Episode 18. Along the way, they feel sorry for Robert, feel sorry for Ray, and most of all, feel sorry for that poor girl trying to practice her dog sledding on Long Island. Finally, they wrap the episode up the only way they know how - by rating Ray's performance on the Baronmeter.

Episode talk starts at 25:59, but why would you skip ahead on this one?

Steve will be launching a Substack soon, where he'll share new jokes and more of his amazing stories - keep an eye on his Twitter (@skrocentral) for news about that! play

08/24/22 • 95 min

Before breaking down Season 1, Episode 17 of Everybody Loves Raymond, the Barone Boys face some moral quandaries in a round of Scruples, realize they have no choice but to devote a BarONUS episode to a listener's Raymembrance, and reveal the new tenant of the 48th floor of the Barone Zone. Then, they go scene by scene through "The Game," discussing Beaches, Barnaby Jones, and the most controversial topic in ELR fandom: Gianni and the cable guy. Plus, Adam plays nearly a full minute of Jennifer Lee's cover of "The Inchworm," Alex wonders if Robert planned Galoshgate all along, and Mike falls victim to misinformation.

No time for nonsense? Episode talk starts exactly at 24:58.

This week, host of High School Slumber Party and Uncle Francis's Wine Cellar, Mets fan, and new friend Brian Rodriguez enters the Barone Zone to help the hosts break down Season 1, Episode 15 of Everybody Loves Raymond. They discuss Brian's history with the TGIF lineup, which sitcom characters he'd like to see hook up, and watching failed pilots with a glass of Bordeaux. Then, they're #Pumped to delve into "The Car," covering that Bee Gees soundalike, Lisa Constantine's powerful name, and how the '72 Valiant made it into the Barone Zone. Plus, Brian shares our first-ever RAY SIGHTING, Adam reveals what his car is worth, Alex teases an antigravity opening, and Mike is in repose.

Robert may be the most attractive Barone, but who's the most attractive man on Long Island? Pull into Newsstand Station as the hosts flip through Long Island Magazine's 100 Sexiest People (number 1 will shock you) before breaking down Season 1, Episode 14 of Everybody Loves Raymond. As they go scene-by-scene through "Who's Handsome?", they welcome Monica Horan's first appearance as Amy, confirm that Robert is superhuman, and continue to antagonize the police. 1.13 Debra's Sick (w/ Joseph Schneider)

Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond

play

07/27/22 • 108 min

Adam is away rescuing our special friend from the Lynbrook jailhouse, so Mike and Alex do their best to steer the ship, perform the theme song, and take care of business as they welcome improvisor, comedian, not-author, and dear friend Joseph Schneider into the Barone Zone to talk Season 1, Episode 13. They talk about Schneider's working knowledge of Everybody Loves Raymond, cover his childhood love of Yes Dear, Just Shoot Me, and Hot in Cleveland, and issue a fairly suppressive disavowal. Then, they go scene-by-scene through "Debra's Sick," and as they do, Schneider and the Sports Guy go toe to toe on Terry Bradshaw facts, they ring in a new set, and the boys nail down their stage/pen names. Plus, Mike drops a stinger, Alex orders some Flintstones gummies, and Schneider laughs in the face of the Lynbrook police and, far more offensively, the Baronmeter.

Follow Joseph Schneider on Twitter (@cheekybigfoot) and tweet at him using #AllCopsAreBarones, and as always, please send in a hot take for Judge Debra or a precious Raymembrance to us on Instagram, on Facebook, on Reddit, or to [email protected], and check out this week's sponsor, 1Password, at postfun.info/ads!

1.12 The Ball

Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond

play

07/20/22 • 83 min

It's Christmas in July as the Barone Boys unwrap Season 1, Episode 12 of Everybody Loves Raymond. First, Alex gifts us a tantalizing chapter of Raymond fan fiction, prompting Mike and Adam to frantically search the Barone Zone's butler's pantry for something to give him in return. Then, they break down "The Ball" scene by scene as Adam explains away our continuity errors, Alex eats the mustard, and Mike loves Frasier.

Some special credits: This episode features a staged reading of this, which uses sound effects from here and music from here. Continuing a long legacy of athletic excellence, the Barone Boys are breaking down Season 1, Episode 11 on this, a classic guestless episode. First, a listener's Raymembrance prompts them to watch Patricia Heaton's appearance on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" (#SeventyNickels). Then, they go scene by scene through "Captain Nemo," discussing Robert's heat resistance, whether Kevin and Doug Heffernan are the same person, and Ray receiving his reward in the kingdom of sex (not heaven). Plus, Adam refuses to live, laugh, or love, Alex spies a boom, and Mike rests in prosperity.

After that, the Barone Boys break down Season 1, Episode 20 scene by scene, read multiple IMDb pages to cover the episode's guest cast, and make Mike answer questions about Vatican II.
